Hi my peeps! I'm having an issue where transparent materials show as solid in the view port in C4D.  I mean, the cause is obvious (material uses only diffuse, reflection, and refraction layers - and not opacity), but I was wondering if anyone knew of a workaround.

Of course, it renders great! I'm just trying to model some shots through windows, and I'm too lazy to keep toggling the Editor visibility.

Glass material:
Diffuse: V 78.431, Brightness 100%, Mix mode Normal, Mix strength 100%
Reflection: V 78.431, Brightness 100%, Glossiness 1, Anisotropy 0.5, Rotation 0, Fresnel IOR 1.51
Refraction: V 100%, Brightness 100%, Caustic (checked), Glossiness 1, Index of refraction 1.51

I've been able to get ambient occlusion to work with Corona A6 (Cinema 4D) using the multi-pass feature.  But it doesn't seem to evaluate anything behind glass or transparent objects.  No options for this, that I can see. Idears?

team render works with the alpha 6? on the road map is written that will come with the alpha 7

Build timestamp: Dec 21 2016 12:38:38
Version: A6  (core 1.5 )
Cinema version: CINEMA 4D Studio R17.055 S

Just going to plop this here in case anyone searches for this issue in the future.

  • Looks like light-emitting materials are about 1/2 strength, when using Team Render. And then the Corona Sun is about 1/50th. Which can be compensated for.
  • Edit 1: But it may actually just be the C4D render window - because things look okay in the Corona VFB.  I'm still testing..
  • Edit 2: Yes, it does appear fine in the VFB - just WAY dark in the C4D picture viewer. No post effects. So here's what I do: if I'm solo rendering, I save from the picture viewer. If using TR, I save from the VFB. But there's something to note.. you cannot start TR as the FIRST render, or else VFB won't pick it up and synchronize. Instead, if using TR, open VFB first, hit Render. Stop it. Then use the regular Team Render controls from C4D ('Team Render to Picture Viewer'). From there, your VFB window will update periodically - either by each pass, or if you resize or move your mouse over the VFB window. Ignore the controls. When done, stop the render from the Picture Viewer, and go back to VFB and Save (it may take a while).

I believe this issue is akin to what cathor had posted here:
https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=11446.0

Specifically, I think it's related to the Corona Sun object. If I render a scene with the local machine only, everything appears fine. But if I select Team Render, it's almost as if the sun is turned way down - to maybe 10% of the original intensity.

Anyone else run into this?

Edit: Using A6
