[Max] I need help! / Help Max wont OPEN!
« on: 2017-07-10, 16:01:32 »
Ive come to my computer today and max wont open. It crashes on load.
If I uninstall corona 1.6.1 it loads fine.
I can see from the 3ds max 2017 loading screen at the bottom it goes through all the dlr's but gets to corona2017.dlr it shows me the crash report screen.

Ive reinstalled corona 3 times but its the same.

Is my only option to re install max 2017.... :(

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Layered Material Bug
« on: 2017-01-12, 16:33:30 »
When I use the layered material I am finding I have a lot of issues.

Displacement doesn't work.
Ambient occlusion doesn't work.
Bump doesn't work.
SSS doesn't work.

If I create a simple material with ANY of the above and then apply the same material via a layered material I loose the above settings.

Please could you help / fix this problem.

Thanks

Okay, I think I sorted it. Maybe I wasn't to clear in my explanation.

Would I be right in thinking if I'm looking through a camera and then press 'p' the perspective view takes on all the properties of the camera I was looking through?

Thanks

Not a useful post but personally interested in learning more about this, I also had problems getting 'god rays' in my scenes. I found having the sun within shot makes a massive difference, not sure if that helps you at all!

My goal is to render a photorealistic image so thats what took me towards the physical camera.

Would you say a target camera with the 'CoronaCameraMod' placed on it is better/More accurate than the physical camera?

Thanks

How do I make the perspective camera look the same as the physical camera?

I find the perspective camera updates much quicker than the camera so I like to press 'c' to find my position and the press 'p' (back into perspective) for a quicker updating interactive render. This works really well but I find that my perspective view always looks different (exposure type difference).

Does anyone know how to make sure the perspective camera looks the same as the physical one?

Thanks

[Max] I need help! / Xref Objects & Materials
« on: 2016-11-02, 15:07:07 »
Hi all,

Im relatively new to max and Corona and I'm finding when I have large scenes my scene becomes too heavy.
Im looking at;
Corona proxys
Xref scenes
Xref objects.

I want to be able to have a manageable viewport and detail at render.

Corona Proxy
When I use the proxy I seem to loose the ability to go back and edit my objects. (geometry or material wise)
Xref scene
I find Xref scenes are difficult to transform in my master file and if I need to update them I have to open external files which have different light setups.
Xref objects
This seems perfect I can move my objects i can have a light viewport but the materials don't seem to always work. If I have a multi sub material on geometry the xref override removes this feature. I can relink the multi sub material node to the object but i don't want to brake and links it made.

How do you guys work with large scenes, maintaining the ability to edit geometry and materials efficiently?

Thanks Danny
