I have done a few tests with your method, When i load the new updated proxy file into the older one, it changes the rotation of the file's instanced around the site and loses the materials and re applying them does not work, as if it has lost the material Id's

[Max] I need help! / Help with handling large siteplan
« on: 2018-01-18, 12:00:17 »
Hey guys, long time reader of the forum, its a great resource of information, but i could use some expertise to help solve the following:

I have a LARGE site plan of houses that need composited into drone photography. we have 11 separate house types which will total 300 when on site with 300 Garages.

My problem is, how do i create these into a site plan while keeping the file size, workability and render time as smooth as possible.

X-Refing them all in work take a long time and cause a large slow down in render and file performance. but does provide us with the ability to update the original files.

I can proxy the 11 houses out and instance them around the site, but if i do this then am i right in thinking that i cannot make changes to these easily. for example if i change the geometry and textures of an original house, re proxy it out overwriting the original file, it seems to reload automatically but messes up the geometry in the site plan file.  is there a way that it reloads correctly?

Sorry for the long winded post, any help appreciated.
