Good morning all,

I seem to have a consistent error when running the Corona Converter. Any VRay lights that have a directional value of less than 1.0 cause an error and don't get converted. Easily fixed by turning the value back to 1.0 and then running the converter again, then popping it back on the converted Corona light. But as Corona lights have a directional value there seems to be a mismatch when converting.

Can his be looked at please? Or is there an alternative?

Hi all,

This is a tricky one to describe so please bear with me on this as to make it easy to understand might take some wording.

So, we are utilising a material library made up of a fair amount of XREf materials (because we have huge housing developments with lots of separate house XRefs which use the same materials) and are running in to a bizarre bug when using IR rendering. It happens in two ways.

When I drag a material in to the slate editor all it shows me is the base XREFmaterial. I apply it to an object, run IR rendering to have a look around, and then drag another material from the library in to the slate editor whilst IR is still going, this time the material shows me all full hierarchy of the materials so all the maps etc. If I then stop IR and drag a third material in to the slate editor it comes in like the first without the full hierarchy. So there seems to be a bug with this when running IR. I don't need to see the full hierarchy as all my materials are setup in a different file where I save the library from.

Further to this, and perhaps where the bug applies more is if IR is running and I close the Corona frame buffer, open a different maxfile, drag a material in from the library, it shows me the hierarchy of the whole material again, even though I haven't run IR in this file.

You can test this yourselves by creating some materials and applying to some spheres. Save this maxfile. In a new maxfile create a few standard xrefmaterials and load the materials into it from the file you just saved. Save these material to a .mat library. In a third maxfile, load the material library and drag the first material in. Run IR and then drag the second material in and the second one should show the hierarchy! All the rest you drag in will until you then stop IR, then when you drag materials in they will just be the base XRefmaterial.

I hope that all makes sense.........I consider this to be a bug but perhaps it's a feature....... :-) I look forward to any replies and fixes for this.

Yes no issues there, asset tracker always seems to load to the path that is set for a proxy or bitmap previously set. The problem is when creating a new proxy and using the Corona Proxy Exporter. If you can get that in that would be really helpful!

This may be quite a random request but one that I hope others will back!

when creating a Corona Proxy object, the button to choose the location of the proxy that opens the browse for folder window, takes me to my machine, rather than the location that is already listed. Corona is excellent at saving time when rendering and therefore enabling more time to be creative, but the fact I have to navigate every time to the correct server location to save a new proxy is very time consuming when I am making multiple proxy objects that need to be saved in to a specific folder. I need this to keep our asset library nice and tidy.

Is there a way the browse for folder option, can take me to the path that is already listed within the button to speed up this process? Less mouse clicking is always a good thing!

Hi all,

We have a huge housing development project of around 100 different house types, landscape etc etc and the parsing scene part of corona rendering takes about 25 minutes, I then get a huge list of Geometry objects(s) with zero scale will be ignored.

All of the offending node(s) are _forest_tempate objects. The standard ones that Forest pack creates by default that seem to be of no or little usage! Anyway, as we have 100 house XRefs to deal with, and the base file that was used to model the houses must have had these _forest_templates in originally, as a consequence they all have those objects in........

So we are trying to speed up the rendering process and I was wondering if anyone would know if we were to delete all of these _forest_template objects from all of the xrefs whether this would actually speed up the scene parsing element of the rendering process.

This is a manual process so will be a few hours of work, I personally feel it should be done regardless and am confident it will help, but I don't want to waste a few hours if it's not going to help.......

A penny for your thoughts please...

Hi all,

Finally giving Corona a good try..........time for a change.

I've looked through the help section on this, and searched the forum but can't find the answer.......

Quite a simple one really, I just wondered how the preserve glass materials works in the material override settings. And the other preserve functions too.

Does it look for materials called glass? Or materials that have some translucency so it wouldn't override fluids, glass etc as well. Or objects on a layer called glass?

Just curious before I have to do some tests t find out myself.

[Max] I need help! / Network Rendering through Deadline

Hi all,

I'm trying to network render my first corona animation and i get the following error in Deadline

Error: 3dsmax: Caught an exception in GetCOREInterface()->LoadFromFile(): STOP@c:\Corona\src\CoronaMaxUtils/PluginTemplate.h(51)

All of the machines are erroring with the same message so I've a hunch it's the installation that's the problem. I have installed the full demo to test Corona for a few weeks.

Any ideas what the error might be caused by?
