as for your CPU doubts, see corona benchmark results, compare them with CPU prices, make the best decision
Thanks!

Hardware / High-end render farm working machines
« on: 2016-12-13, 08:32:49 »
I'm currently planning to create a new render farm and just wondering that what might be the "best price" components for an single working machine in this moment?

My plan for future is to have enough working machines to render faster, even partly heavy 3d-animations. I'm currently using 3ds Max, Corona + some other plugins.

Any suggestions?

Package #1
  • Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4, LGA2011-3, 2.1GHz,40MB
  • Noctua processor cooling, NH-U12S, LGA/115x/2011/AM2
  • Asus X99-E WS, LGA2011-v3, Intel X99, DDR4, CEB
  • Corsair 64GB (8 x 8GB) Vengeance LPX DDR4 2133MHz, 1.2V
  • Samsung 256GB 850 PRO Series SSD-hard drive 2.5", SATA III
  • Seasonic 450W G-450 ATX power
  • Asus NVIDIA GeForce GT 210 Silent V2, 1GB DDR3, VGA/DVI

There is one thing that I'm kind of guessing: 2.1Ghz enough for Xeon?

Thanks!

Your scene is affected by UHD cache bug, that was present in 1.5. Make sure you have installed latest 1.5.2 release, reset render settings and then flicker should disappear. On the other hand, you don't need UHD cache for such type of scene at all. Switch secondary solver to path tracing and forget any troubles about flickering GI.

Ok, thanks a lot about this information!

Any reason what could cause mainly the flickering in the dark areas? (see the towers). Attached the render setup image.

TY Noyale! And looks excellent, good luck in the contest and looking forward to seeing how the project develops. I have a soft spot for spaceship renders :)
Thanks! I will notice once it's done. :)
Now the final rendered images are shown at there.

The motion blur setup might have some issues. Need to look at that later more. Thanks for the notice.

Thanks maru! The clouds are quite heavy, but optimizing those would allow easily render some cool video.

That plane is cute, but... where is the pilot? :] And MB looks strange, how did you do it?
Thanks! I didn't have time to add the pilot. Just mainly testing the clouds. :)

What MB?
