[Max] I need help! / DR Render Elements
« on: 2016-01-09, 10:15:25 »
Hi

I read that people were having a problem a while back with distributed rendering and the elements saving blank when opening a .exr

We are having this problem now. We have 6 machines and everything is rendering perfectly when sending distributed either locally or through backburner.

However when the .exr saves and you load it in Photoshop the beauty pass is there but all the other elements show as blank images even though they are there in the frame buffer. The only way round it is to go to save all and get them saved individually.

That's fine on one render but when sending numerous renders through back-burner there's no way to do that....anyone found a fix?

Thanks

Thanks Maru,

I'll give that a go and also add a rayswitch material to my window glass

Thanks Maru, it's still noisy at the end of the animation. I might try that glass thing you mentioned about the GI if that doesn't work I'll send part of the scene. I've done the Albedo pass and everything looks fine on there so I'm not sure what is happening. it is a large scene with lots of objects..maybe it just needs more passes but I can't really afford to have it doing more than 40 mins a frame. I did a still twice the size and let that run for 10 hours....that worked well!

The lights are small corona lights behind glass. should I try moving them in front of the glass? they are corona lights with IES

thanks,

Marc

Hi Yagi,

No problem we're loving using corona, I think Marus' advice on the MSI number works well. Here's a quick region render I did of the same scene. neither have photoshop or noise reduction applied. The one attached has an MSI value of 2 rather than the default 20 and it seems to have cleaned up much better. both did 30 passes.

Ive only had that issue you've had with parsing the scene etc on really big scenes, corona proxies or x-refing objects in has helped.

Thanks For getting back to me so quickly. The interiors are lit with corona lights. Sorry I don't think I explained it very well! I've got a tv and a fire in some of the rooms so I have an animated texture on a light material for those

I've attached a screengrab of an exterior part of the animation. The noise on the exterior looks like it's cleaned up ok but when you start seeing through the glass and where the internal lights are illuminating the exterior its very noisy (render time was about 45 mins per frame 30 passes)

I've also attached a section of an interior this was taking about 1hr 10 mins perframe with 30 passes and is still noisy..was hoping to get render time to about 40mins

Thanks,

Marc

Hi,

I've been using corona a lot recently and find it great, produces really nice interior images which have a more realistic feel than vray

I'm trying to render an animation of an interior scene I've done. It's fairly short/slow paths. There are moving light materials in the scene and a door opens but apart from that there is nothing complicated

I am having a real issue with noise. It seems to be something to do with my internal lights and glass. Are there certain refraction settings I need to apply to the glass for animation or anything I should do to the lights?

I have tried UHD load and append every 10 frames and from scratch every frame, which is the best option?

Really appreciated any help

thanks,

Marc
