[Max] General Discussion / corona for Max 2016
« on: 2015-06-09, 13:51:52 »
Is there a Corona for Max 2016? We were in an impression that, there is and we have updgraded to max 2016. Now what? Corona Development for Max has slowed down compared to how it started. There is no public update since 1.02. for past 2 months. Not sure, how daily updates works? Is there a Max2016 version in Daily updates. We are on a SAS license. Does this mean, we need to return to Vray. Please advise.

I am not using Railclone, I don't even own it :- ) I hope someone from my team wishes to learn it (Veronika shown some interest), but I have none.

The floor was modelled manually, but that really is simple process, you just copy all the planks, and then do some manual offseting and rotating in fractions so you have some random detail.
This was rendered with Alpha 5, so I also had to bake out the map from multitexture which I rendered top-down in Scanline, but today you can use multitexture directly...so that's very easy.

It has two UV mappings. One is per each element, and one is big planar tiled with scratches.

So funny how old that is....and how good Alpha 5 worked for archviz already.

Thanks for the response Juraj. I did start on the same path of yours, using the CLONE script from itoo. Its really handy and free. Will upload a test render soon. Keep up the good work. regards

Hardware / Re: Dual E5 or i7

Thanks a ton for all you Masters and Juraj specially for the detailed explanation. I am on my 7years old Asus laptop (i7 2720QM) with GTX 460M + an old Dell E5450 3ghz- It still manages to get some decent render times compared to Vray 3. You can understand my agony. At work place, they have i7 4930K (not overclocked), just factory setup. How the heck, you overclock. may be I need to check some YouTube research. Never thought about that.

I am saving for a new workstation for quite some time now. My theory of comparing these two CPUs are based on the CPU Benchmark, which is More cores = Fast Corona Render. Considering 48cores compared to 16cores. Budget is still a concern. Now learning from the discussion, not really sure, if Corona can actually make use of all 48 cores.

Thank you guys for the info. May be by the time I am ready to spend on a workstation, new updates will occur. My current setup is complete obsolete now.

Hardware / Dual E5 or i7

Hi,

I am planning to build a new workstation. Since Corona has changed the game play, I am more inclined on CPU than GPU(due to its limitations and cost). so the question for the Onda and Keymaster.

Which would be ideal CPU for Corona setup

Dual E5 - 2680 V3 2.5ghz or i7 5960X 3ghz

I am also going to add 2 GTX 980 and 64gb ram.

thanks

With little time, we had to create Bonaldo Tufty-time sofa in cloth finish. It's kind of hard, even for Marvelous, but I am quite happy with result like this. Courtesy to Veronika

Already playing with Alpha5. Funny my scene didn't render correctly, so I opted for merging into new scene, and than it rendered correctly again. Filtering Yes or No still cause me some confusion, so at the moment, all maps are unfiltered at 0.1 except for bump which is filtered at 0.1 on summed area.

I guess also bidirectional isn't suitable for this type of scene ? It seems impressively noisy compared to simple path tracing, so I guess it benefits only for much complicated lightning ? Little light sources and caustics, etc.

Still incredibly happy for this renderer.

EDIT:

Final version :

Hi Juraj,

I have been following this feed for quite some time now and got aboard the Corona Ship. Admiring your work. would you mind, sharing your floor material workflow? is that a texture, or elements using railclone or something of that sort. How to apply random texture, if it was made in Railclone. (the material element is not fully supported in Railclone). A quick response with some details is highly appreciated, as I am trying hard to replicate the effect.

Thanks a lot for your time on reading this post. Cheers.

[Max] I need help! / 8k Renders
« on: 2015-02-18, 13:33:44 »
Hello Corona Guru's

This is my first post as I need an urgent help. I have started to use Corona from past 20days and to my amaze, it was quick to learn. I am so impressed, that I have incorporated CORONA on an actual project where I need to create 8k renders. (8000X5500 pxl)

I have all the setup and test rendered them at 1200pxls and they come out quite fast. Leaving renders for 3 to 4 hrs gives a quite clean render. Now the question is...

Is there a trick to know, how many PASSes it would need to make a 8k render clean.

Or

How many hours should I keep the render running to make them noise free (some noise is acceptable, i am not looking for a 0 noise)

Scenario

I will be using Backburner to do 20 different renders at 8k. How to setup these????

Please NEED AN URGENT HELP
