[Max] Bug Reporting / CmaskingID not behaving as it should?

It appears that the CmaskingID element displays different colours per ID ONLY when there are different materials assigned to them. Doesn't this contradict what it's supposed to do? Which is display the different IDs given to parts of an object regardless of whether a unique material is assigned to those IDs?

This shows random IDs assigned to a cloned bunch of teapots (one object, one material, multiple IDs)

This shows the same but with a muti-subobject material assigned (one object, multiple materials, multiple IDs)

Am I wrong to assume the goal of the CmaskingID element is to display IDs, even if there's no materials assigned to them?

Thanks for the compliments, will try your suggestion as a test. Our only workaround to this problem has been to replace the HDRi with a Sun system and try and match the lighting as close as possible...

Hi SairesArt,

Sorry my mistake, it's actually 5deg over the 120 frames, not 1.5deg. So yes, definitely doesn't have a full rotation.

Attaching animation.

[Max] General Discussion / VrayuHDRI map rotation

Hi everyone,

I don't think this has been asked before, but if it has please point me in the right direction.

I'm animating the rotation of an HDRI used to light a scene through a VrayHDRI map by animating it's horizontal rotation. Currently it moves roughly 1.5deg over 120 frames at 24fps.

The output video is extremely choppy with the shadows cast moving in an extremely staccato way. I can confirm that the rotation values do go into decimals over the course of the animation. Has anyone else experienced this kind of not-smooth animation with an HDRI? When using a sun system it's smooth.

Thanks in advance
