[Max] Resolved Feature Requests / Re: Fresnel IOR Map
« on: 2014-09-03, 12:55:06 »
Thanks everyone for answers, sorry for the delay I just forgotten this thread...

The way Rawalanche describes it is actually what I was intended to do,
so turning constant ior to 100 is the solution for me.

Thanks again !

Hello,

I usually disable any VFB when rendering image sequence on renderfarm, in order to reduce memory usage and reduce a bit the render times.

It renders fine when in progressive mode.
But in bucket mode, only the initial passe is rendered, following passes are just ignored (almost instant in the rendering info window).

Don't know if it's a bug or just a normal behaviour.
I'm using 7.1

Still had problem when remotly launching DrServer.exe

It seems that it is a working directory issue while executing the exe.

Here is a command line workaround :
start /B /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Corona\DrServer" DrServer.exe

Ok just found it :

- close DrServer.exe
- locate your DrServer installation folder (should be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Corona\DrServer")
- delete the "drData" folder
- launch DrServer.exe
- it should log "Cannot read the config file, default one will be created"

Same here with 2015.

1, your V-Ray render seems far more blurry.
2, it's too noisy, increasing the blurry feeling

I think that if you correctly match the blurriness and you wait enough time to get rid of noise in V-Ray (maybe 3 weeks...),
you will be better able to make the comparison.

I also think they are.

You have to take into account the distance through the reflection, and not only the distance to the reflective surface.

Reflections aren't sticked on objects, but at the distance from camera to the reflective surface + surface to the reflected object.

Hello,

don't know if it's actually a bug or the expected behaviour,
but in a7, plug in an Fresnel IOR map doesn't fully override the IOR value,
it makes kind of blending inbetween.

You don't need to render to see this effect, it's already in the material editor.
