Hi everyone,

I have been making architectural visualisations for a while and one of the things i do that is a bit unique is i composite the back wall in photoshop instead of taking the base render of the wall...

---

This is how i do it:
Take the light selects from lightmix
Light 1
Light 2
Light 3
Source Color (Aka white)

Now do a render of the wall again and do a shadowcatcher for compositing.

---

I take thise elements and composite it inside photoshop but it never 100% looks like the real wall if i just rendered it out.. Can anyone figure out what im doing wrong or some element i might be missing?

I have attached an image of the wall that is a normal render and one that is composited.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi everyone!

I was thinking, is there a way to render out the same pillow in 1-go, 3 times with 3 different materials?

Thanks in advance! :)

Okay so I have some examples here of how the light selects come out and that is as either .exr or .png
As far as I can see there's no transparency on the layers which is what I'm struggling with...
So essentially I'd just like that the black part of the renders comes out as transparent.

I have attached the files below...

PS.
I do understand that it can be composited within Photoshop by using the color dodge (add) blend mode although what I am trying to get is layers that already have transparency so there's no need for blending in photoshop...

The above picture is only shadows in a render (shadowcatcher set for compositing), I want that but only for the light that hits a object...

A way you can get light layers is to do a render and then take the different light selects, put it into photoshop and set it for overlay (add). But the thing is that those renders do not have an alpha.

So the goal is to just get a render that only contains light or has an alpha that I can use inside photoshop.

Hope i explained this well enough :)

So I'm trying to render out a light layer as the headline says.
Currently, I have shadowcatcher with a transparent background like the one attached below, but I would need a light layer like that too it is very important only lighting from my scene is included primarily the environment light (HDRI)...

I hope someone knows how to do this, thanks in advance!

Alpha is solid, compositing it with overlay dosent work eaither its not displaying the glass correctly...
If theres a way to render the glass with a correct alpha thats also an option im just not sure how that is done...

7
So ive been rendering glass on transparent background, saving it and compositing it inside photoshop, currently using color dodge add to remove the black part of the glass...

Does anyone know of a good way to keep the glass looking correctly without loosing the glass features?
(when i place the glass inside photoshop it does not have its transparency but rather is black)

I dont see that option, can u maby take a screenshot of the option

9
I just wanna follow up on this...

Using OpenEXR does not solve the problem but it makes the halo white instead of black... Is there a way to get these renders to compose correctly without using defringe..

10
I do see that but is there a way to make photoshop interpret the alpha correctly or?

The only solution I see in there is "use fusion instead" which is not an option...

So I've been trying to find a way to render out objects in Corona but avoiding the black edges seen in the pictures below...

Is there a way to place an object above another object without having black edges?
(it's for compositing inside photoshop)

Yes alright, i am rendering the individual objects eaither way and then layering them above the forground so i guess that should work :P

Thanks again :)

The picture with the red chairs is the base color.

It is because I want to be able to change the color of the chair in post as well, separate from the lights.

Hi Tom,

I have another question, can you adjust the light selects and then change the base color of the object separately so that the hue don't affect the base color of the object?

hope you understand my question...

See attached files
