Thank you for your reply. I have had a number of times in the past where including the render elements also resulted in the same loss of all of my light select elements; the first few times this happened to me was when I loaded all of the settings (including render elements). I had thought that by selecting only the Environment, it would not attempt to restore any prior Render Elements settings and would leave the current ones intact; i.e. that it functioned in the same way you can load only one aspect of a Scene State for example.

Long story short, I understand that you are saying that the Render Elements need to be loaded from the settins file as well in order to not lose the Lightmix Setup, but I have also had this same exact problem of all of my elements turning to "deleted" when doing that. Do you know what would be causing it in that circumstance?

This has happened to me a number of times but I cannot seem to isolate what causes it, as it seems like it only happens infrequently and sporadically.

Recently I loaded a saved render preset, when the dialog box popped up to ask which of the saved settings I wanted to import, I ONLY selected the Environment option, and nothing else. After rendering, I went to edit the CXR file and noticed that all of my lightmix setup was stripped. In the 3dmax file, under the Render Elements section, all of my Lightselect groups now contain nothing but endless rows of "deleted."

Needless to say this is frustrating as I've spent quite a bit of time setting up my Lightmix, and I have different scenes in this model that all require different lightmix settings that don't allow me to easily bake them into the model.

What is causing this to happen and how can I avoid it in the future?
