love solving my own problems. Not only do you need to make sure all your licenses are correct, but you need to be signed into your Chaos account as well. Solved

Hi all, I updated my Corona to version 13 but having difficulties getting it to fully initiate a rendering. Everything launches on the render nodes fine, I do a test and make sure that it can see a license. I close out and launch the DrServer and run my job from my main machine but I am met with "slave 3ds max ended render" shortly after Received sampling focus mask and the job just renders locally with the slave status changing to waiting for render to start. Sometimes the DrServer closes once I kill the rendering as well which I find odd.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Cannot render in DRserver
« on: 2024-11-21, 16:05:12 »
Hi Avi, after hours down in the trenches I found that our problem was related to Adobe Substance. Any objects or materials found in the scene with SBAR seem to cause issues with DR staying connected. It's beyond me why suddenly this has become an issue, not all of our artists/scenes use it so maybe its been a thing but we didn't notice it, there were a few Adobe updates maybe a week or two ago but not sure how that relates to Substance plugin and 3DS Max. We are currently using 3DS Max 2025.2 with Corona 12 Hot Fix 1 and Adobe Substance plugin was at 3.0.2, I upgraded it to 3.0.4 to see if that helped and no.

Once the SBAR are removed from the scene the rendering goes as expected. I will eventually upgrade us to 2025.3 and install the latest Corona 12 Update 1 version that just came out to see if that resolves the issue.

Hey, suddenly having the same issue, was this ticket resolved? If so what was the issue? All of a sudden we are having issues staying connected to our DR machines. Whether thats 1 or all of them. We havent updated anything except for the usual windows forced updates recently...

2024-11-18 12:59:06   Received sampling focus mask (region 0 0 4200 2333)
2024-11-18 12:59:35   Closing loopback manager
2024-11-18 12:59:36   DR is finished
2024-11-18 12:59:36   Ready for new connection

We get this on repeat or this

2024-11-18 13:00:21   Received sampling focus mask (region 0 0 4200 2333)
2024-11-18 13:00:34   Got a message from remote: terminate_soft
2024-11-18 13:00:51   Sending command to slave: <root><DataType>0</DataType><Command>terminate_soft</Command></root>
2024-11-18 13:00:51   Closing loopback manager
2024-11-18 13:02:35   DR is finished
2024-11-18 13:02:35   Ready for new connection

Thanks TomG and Rowmanns for the responses! The outbound and incoming show the DrServer as an exception on the render node. The windows firewall itself is off as well on both the master and slave.

Hey Tom thanks for relying! Yes they are both setup as render nodes, both are working and running renderings with licenses. They've always worked fine but was just curious what the reason is for not being able to see some of the info. The machine that does not display ram usage also needs to be manually input into the DR list, search LAN does not make it appear. So thats why my assumption is something with ports or firewalls but I am not entirely sure what port I need to tell IT to open

[Max] I need help! / Render DR nodes dont display Ram usage
« on: 2022-08-26, 19:01:47 »
Any ideas why I cant see some of my render nodes ram usage in the view ports DR tab? Attached image. I am assuming its maybe a port or firewall issue maybe? Let me know if anyone has any ideas!

[Max] General Discussion / Re: How to handle backplates?
« on: 2022-08-23, 15:40:49 »
OP you solved for me thank you!! Racking my brain on this for days now, always had a few scenes with this issue but never was enough to fully investigate. Finally had a scene with a lot of weird shadow effects. Went back and forth on all the settings of the lights, the sun, materials, etc... even enabled the Debugger and played with Terminator and no luck. Switched off reflections in the light material that I was using as a backplate and boom no more weird shadow effect... Changed the lighting of the whole scene but probably is actually more accurate now as it is less dark.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Re: Tone Mapping Not Updating in VFB
« on: 2022-05-12, 22:24:16 »
nevermind, figured it out. Corona 8 moved the default exposure settings from the camera to the VFB. Default is set to use Simple Exposure as usual, but now you have to untick it or delete it and add Photographic Exposure to the Tone Mapping of the VFB or override and add it to the camera's Tone Mapping...

experiencing the same issues but not just with Tone Mapper, both the Interactive and full render in VFB do no respect any adjustments or changes to the camera ISO, F stop or shutter as well as any adjustments to tonemapper settings. Nothing changes in VFB even playing with extreme values like setting ISO from 100 to 10000, no change in lighting.

Tried a clean scene no dice... Updated from Corona 7 to 8, will try to uninstall and do a clean install.
