Does this bike exist?  I love the naked cafe racers, in-fact I am looking to perhaps buy the MV Agusta Brutale 800 dragster RR.  Anyhow, it would interesting to know what bike(s) you based this on.  Thanks...

This particular bike does not exist no. It is based on the frame of a Ducati 888 and the swingarm from a monster. Engine is from 900ss which is air cooled. Other than that various parts are just scavenged from other ducati builds to make it believable. The tank, seat and exhaust are my own designs :)

Any chance, you can share the tyre shader or to put it in a simple way HOW the hell did you make that lol...You should do some Auto renders.

Thanks
The tyre shader is very simple indeed. It uses a high resolution displacement texture that I sampled a couple of years ago from real world tyres. The small pebbles are added in the displacement texture from some tiling gravel which I contrasted enough to leave just the tiniest pebbles. Other than that its just a basic rubber material. Very simple diffuse and most of the stuff happens in the smoothness.

I have done some auto renders. Can be found at my portfolio or behance page.

Thanks all!

This bike only exists in 3d:)

No nurbs used, just good old polymodelling. The mesh is very messy on some parts but hey! If it renders good :D

I live in sweden. Havent seen the sun in a long time so i over compensated with saturation on this project ;) lighting is done in max with 2 planes with corona light material on them. I made a soft circular mask for the lights to get that soft studio look. background is all photoshop.

This is my latest project. I needed something quick to make after the Ducati motorcycle :)
My own design with strong influences from the old Honda NSX. Corona 1.0, hope you like it!

Thanks all!

O-mans: It is based on the 916 frame. Swingarm is from a Ducati monster. Forks and suspension from Öhlins. Engine is from Ducati 900ss :)

RolandB: See my answer above. I actually agree with you on the matte black material. It is a bit too much. But then again I think it suits the overall feel. I might tweak it for future renders. Thanks for the feedback!

PhilippeCV: I tried to find a contact at Ducati but it turned out to be difficult. I might give it a try again hehe. I currently work as a lead vehicle artist on EA DICE.

Thanks! :)

The textures are probably tweaked a bit from that wip shot. There is some blue in there.

I think the secret is to watch lots of reference and focus on what is important.

The diffuse is almost completely black because it is metal.
The magic happens in the reflection color and glossmap.

I started with a simple tube model in maya and then UV mapped it. I don't really care about where to place seams etc because I only bake normals from the zbrush mesh and then paint the rest in Mari. Mari as you know handles UV seams like a champ.

The actual texturing is strikingly simple. A tiled detailed map across the whole exhaust. The rest is simple painted gradients for the colors. It actually didn't take more then one or two hours to texture.
In the attached images you have the reflection color map in its entirety and then an image of the hand painted colors only.
Then it's just a matter of tweaking levels and contrast in photoshop and make a black and white version for the gloss map (of course tweak this as well).

Thanks guys!
Marvelous designer was used for the seat. Stitches added in maya.

I spent something along the lines of 400+ hours on this.

Here is my latest project. Rendered in Corona of course :)
Modelled in Maya, Zbrush and Marvelous designer. Textured using Mari and Photoshop.
