[C4D] I need help! / Floating Licences
« on: 2023-05-23, 11:42:42 »
Hello. I purchased a floating licence so my copy of Corona can be used on multiple machines. I did this because my company is just starting to use it. There are two of us so I thought it would be useful to buy a floating copy so we can dip into it whenever something comes up. As and when we become more reliant on it I'll get an additional full licence.

However, this may not work - as the other seat would need to sign in as me? Is this correct?  We are just two designers. Two copies of Cinema 4D. Two different emails. Two different houses. He just works for me remotely.

Is there a way to do this for us? Or is this 'floating' licence just for me to work from different computers?

Thanks! Super helpful!

Hello
I have a Mac Studio with C4D and I've just started using Corona Render (premium licence) on it. It's great so far. I have a couple of queries.

Firstly, is there a way to pop my renders into a render queue like I would have done standard render?

Second, I have a PC sitting here largely redundant. It's a Threadripper 2990WX with 32GB RAM. Would this be suitable for a render node? As in, will it be quick? Powerful?

Third, if I can use this PC - how is that set up? Is there a guide anywhere?

Fourth, do I need to purchase a specific licence or is a single render node within my licence?

Thanks in advance, sorry I'm very, very new to it.

Hello. I have a job I'm working on. I'm rendering out individual items of office furtniture etc. The file is super simple. A desk (or whatever) then a 'floor' item, a camera, then a HRDI studio. I rendered them out and supplied them to the client. Now, because she's no good in photoshop / Indesign etc she's asked me to provide them on a transparent background.

I'd usually do this with an object buffer and perhaps mess around with the background so it's set to overlay etc but she seems to want it 'transparent'. This means I'll lose my nice shadows on the floor and everything will look 'floating' and a bit rubbish.

How would I be able to render out the items with a separate 'shadow on the floor' layer in Corona?
Thanks folks, super new to this.

Hi thanks.
I try not to use XREFs as I've had huge problems with them before. Really odd things happening for seemingly no reason and they only appear in the final render. Very strange. I'll carry on with working on the actual models.

I'll try and 'merge' them or something!

By the way, can you tell me what a 'corona proxy' does?
Thanks

Hello all. Me again. I'm still working on this car showroom. Nearly finished. I'm bringing in cars to fill up the showroom now. I've been given IGES models of the cars which is nice. So, what I intend to do is select all the parts of the car that are sprayed bodywork, then "connect objects and delete" which will give me a single piece which I can colour with the Carpaints from the Chaos Material Library.

This has been working fine BUT because my scene is rather complicated I was working on the cars in a different 'document'. When I copy and paste them into the main scene it seems to lose the colours. They're all coming over plain white and rendering that way too.

1. What can I do to remedy that? Merge the scene? Is there some kind of way to 'reference' the object out of scene? (Like an Xref etc)
2. Is there a more extensive catalogue of car paint colours I can access? I'm still a total beginner and fiddling around with the colours is somewhat time-consuming and producing some strange results!

Thanks in advance folks, you've been awesome the last couple of day! My deadline is today - eek!

Thanks!!!!

Hello
I need to have (at least the effect of) a logo being projected onto a floor. Can someone please point out how I'd do this?
Sorry, I'd google and watch YouTube videos but I'm learning this while on an actual job! Effect as shown in the attachment. Doesn't have to be actually technically 'correct' as long as the effect is there...
Thanks in advance folks. :)

I'm embarrassed to say, but on 'normal' projects I don't use Corona. I have a reflective sphere in which my items all sit - and I have a luminance material applied so that it appears on reflections. There's a tag on it to not be visible to the camera though. Somehow it's becoming visible when Corona comes into play. Usually I'm just designing retail display units - not whole car showrooms... When I started the scene - although I'd switched it off it still came into play.

No probs!

Have a minor material issue now haha. I'll leave you alone for a bit though!

Oh my gawd, I found it!
Sorry, total schoolboy error. there was something in there from a 'previous' scene.
Why it only appears when the glass is there is another subject but I THINK I've solved the mystery. Thanks everyone. :)

Hello.
Basically, I have the four large panels of the box. I took the glass material from the Cosmos browser and I dropped it onto the group holding all the glass. Was UVW mapping as standard. Tried to amend it to spherical and this mysterious dome is still there!

I can't share the file as I've signed a NDA etc.
It only appears when I look 'through' the glass. If I look down at the model it's not there...>!

Here's a couple more pics. Please help :)

Hello! I have another strange question! Sorry!
I am modelling a car showroom. It has glass on all four sides. So I've created one large glass panel on each side and dropped a corona texture onto them. When I do that, a strange bubble appears in the VFB!
Can anyone explain this? What's going on?

Thank you!

THANK YOU!
Do I need to 'fake it' if I want to see the light itself? What about visible light emitting from the light? See below...

No, that last fella sorted it for me. Thanks. Was mainly concerned with targets as I usually just grab a 'target' spotlight.

How would you achieve, for example, a strip light in Corona? Like you would use under a shelf in a store?
