[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: Adaptivity and Shadow channel
« on: 2021-10-05, 18:24:46 »
We already have this logged.
What you see is the effect of using the adaptive environment sampler. I do not have any explanations from the dev team yet, but I guess it makes rendering faster this way (and also makes it looks weird in the sampling focus element).
The shadows element issues look like a bug and we will look into it.

As a temporary workaround, you can try changing the adaptive environment sampler to anything else than "adaptive" in the development/experimental stuff rollout - https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000021288

Hello Maru, thank you for reply! As all of us know, it doesn't make our renders faster on the latest passes now, as Focus of Sampling focusing on the areas, that no need to be cleaned. All of us using Denoiser to clean image in the end after 8-10 or even 20 hours of rendering using 20 cores processors. Hope it will be fixed in a near feature and Corona will become faster on the latest passes!

Or maybe it stops sampling in the places where sampling is not needed? :)

Maybe =)
Maybe it should work like this, but in of all interiors, corners staying noisy every time, while all image is already clean long time ago. Theoretically it should work like in Fstorm renderer: few hours of noisy image and after corners and other noise parts should become clean, but instead it renderin 8 hours and still noisy.

I already wrote about these problems in a "The most wanted feature?" topic.
There is a problems with Focus Sampling and Shadow channel. Please, let me know, if there is some news about these problems.
I attached scene and some images of the problems here:

It is working. Few version ago it was some problems with saving.

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: Turn mesh into corona light
« on: 2021-10-03, 11:27:19 »
Actually, it will be great to have same way turning mesh in to Corona Light like in V-Ray, because we could find self illumination objects much faster in scene through Corona Listner. Sometimes these objects can give you a lot of noise and you have to check all materials to turn them off. Also, Corona Light material has limitations, for example - intensity.

Any news about this feature?

Some new test:
I decide to go with first and second solvers - Path Tracing and get this result. It seams like for now focus is working more correct, it start make more attention to shadow areas under the teapots.
Also I uploaded scene for you.

Hope it will help!

This how Shadows pass should look like:

Here it is. Same problem + Shadow pass is dead as always (it was work somehow only with Portals in a windows in the past). Where i can upload a scene to you? Actually it is a simple scene with Sky and grey material on all objects.

Corona uses adaptivity for ages already, Fstorm is just catching up ;]

Sorry for my doubts, Fstorm calculating some prepass, that makes render on the latest passes more effectivity, then Corona. It is cleanup the image better, while Corona do not cleanup the images and staying on the same noise level for some areas in the internal (for example corners inside room).

I have an idea, do something similar with adaptivity and Corona will become much faster!

Yes, I know it is not hard to imagine. All of us can do it. But having specific scenes, examples, and knowing what users are actually doing is another things. This always helps us prioritize things and allows us to better understand what the users are doing, what solutions they need, and why.

How you will understand it, when it is not even in voting list?
A lot of stuff we can do with this feature. A lot of us need this feature for sure. What is the point of Corona in Cinema 4D, when users use Cinema for some animation? I thought Alex Roman did write some needed features for Corona after his project in this engine.
It is always better have some possibilities, then do not have it and use other engines. As we know, V-Ray has this feature, but when I did one project with a water, I did use Arnold render, not Corona or V-Ray, because it is more simple to set up, then V-Ray. And Corona hasn't this possibilities at all. If somebody think, that people will go for some features to V-Ray instead Corona, it is not, we have another engines for this.

Still waiting for this feature in Corona, still waiting when developers start listen community and will not ask why we need this feature or that. We just need it. Create a vote for a start.

We've changed how we're doing the roadmap - the next version is no longer a long, comprehensive, and exhaustive list at the release of the previous version, but instead contains the things we will be working on first. Once those near completion and it is clear we will have time to do something else, we'll move another item in off the "Pool of big ideas". This is to save the frustration of listing everything we hope to include, but along the way we find out that something can't be completed in time - as happened with the Tone Mapping for 7. Even though it is made clear that the roadmap is tentative, we thought it would help manage people's expectations while still being as open and transparent as we can if we follow this new approach.

So what you see in Corona 8 is just the starting point. What else gets added as we go, once things near completion and we can safely wrap in other work from Pool of Big ideas, we will find out as we go. As it says right on the roadmap, "More to be announced later..." :)

Thank you!

Tell me somebody please, how the voting works? Geo Pattern like tool is on the second/third place by voting and it is not in the plans for 8 version of Corona. Why and what is the point of voting?
