Thanks for your quick reply.

I can see you have raised a ticket with us. I will continue with you on the ticket.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I would like to clarify a few more points:

1. Does this problem only occur when you're performing distributed rendering, or does it also happen when you're rendering on a single system? Is the issue consistent in both scenarios?
2. Can you let me know if it has worked previously with an older version of Corona? If you use Corona 9, do you still get 50% CPU usage?
3. Can you use our benchmark tool and let us know what is your CPU usage? You can download it from here: https://corona-renderer.com/benchmark

There could be multiple things that can lead to this issue, let's go through them 1 by 1.

1. Make sure your workstation is properly cooled. Overheating can lead to performance throttling.
2. If you are using Windows 10 then upgrade to Windows 11 as this seems to have fixed this issue in the past, see this article for more information: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/5411622662289-Lower-CPU-utilization-with-Intel-Alder-Lake-processors
3. If you are using any kind of virtualization (VMware, Microsoft Server, etc.) then make sure your administrator has not limited your hardware usage.
4. Check if this is happening only with Corona and working fine with other render engines such as V-Ray.
5. Check if this issue is scene specific i.e., only happening with this scene and does not happen on other scenes.
6. Check if your workstation is not set to power-saving mode and is set to utilize full performance.

Once you do all this, please let me know about your findings.

I have logged this issue in our system to be further investigated by our devs. If there will be any update on this, we will let you know.

Suppose you're using Forest Pack to scatter three types of trees and you want to create a render mask for trees of the same type, you could use CMasking_ID. You'll find an option there called "Geometry group ID" - try selecting that.

And if you want to create one mask for the whole Forest group, it's pretty straightforward too. Just right-click on your forest object and select "Select all forest dependencies." Then, right-click again and go to object properties. Here, you'll find an option to set the G buffer object ID. Once that's done, you can go back to "Cshading_mask" and set the object ID to the same G-buffer ID.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I have tried your scene. Here are the steps I did.

1. Started DR rendering
2. First Message, "Transforming vertices" ~ "Saving sent scene...." ~ Slave Side - "Downloading Scene"
3. Second Message - "Parsing Scene"
4. Click Cancel - (Takes about 5-8 sec to cancel)
5. There is a short buffer time on the Slave machine about 5 - 8 sec after hitting cancel on Workstation

Once you repeat the process with Disabled DR

It simply starts rendering the scene after parsing it for a few seconds.

I am unable to reproduce the same massive time, it could be due to differences in our hardware.

Also, can you let me know which version of the forest pack you are using? and from where you are running your main file? From the local drive or from the Network drive?

Thank you for your input again.

@dj Buckley, can you share the scene with me by either starting a ticket or you can also DM me privately? I would be interested in testing the same with your scene.

Hi,

Thanks for your input. I actually tried to follow your repro steps but for me, canceling time is not massive. Please find the troubleshooting video below. It maybe possible, that the issue is scene specific or with very big scenes and it can take sometime to troubleshoot/Repro the issue so I would like you to start a ticket with us here: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

also if I am doing anything wrong in the video or missed any step, let me know.

Hi,

Can you let me know which version of Corona and what remote software you are currently using? Can you give me some repro steps so I can try? Also is this a scene-specific issue or is happening even with a super simple scene with just some cubes and cones?

535
Hi @Dionysios.TS @arqrenderz

is it possible for either of you to send us a ticket along with a simplified version of your scene and some repro steps so we can investigate the issue further?

You can start a ticket with us using this link: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Hi @SRY

This code seems to work fine for me

Code: [Select]
showClass "CMasking_ID*.*"
Make sure you are copy pasting it right.

Hi,

I had started a ticket with you. You should have received a notification in your email. Can you please check and reply back to it?

If due to any technical issue, you have not received any tickets notification then feel free to start a ticket with us using this link: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

We can continue from there.

Hi,

I have started a ticket with you, and we will continue our investigation over there.

Hi,

Can you answer a few questions:

1. What version of 3ds Max you are using with Corona 10 RC1?
2. What are the hardware specs of the system which is using 80% CPU utilization?
3. What operating system is installed on this system?
4. Please make sure there is no thread limit is set on this system.
5. All systems which are taking part in DR using Corona 10 RC1 and same version of 3ds Max?
6. How is the DR setup? Are the systems connected via LAN? and you are using Corona DR?
7. Is this a scene-specific issue? For example: This is only happening with some particular scene you are rendering on DR or this is happening even with a very simple scene that has some planes and cubes.
8. Does the node have a proper Windows, driver, and BIOS update?
9. Make sure that power management is not set to some energy-saving mode, it should be set to high performance.
10. It is also important to check the cooling of your node so we are sure it's performing as it should.
11. Is this issue happening only with Corona 10 RC1 and does not happen with Corona 9 HF3 or V-Ray?

Let me know.

Hi,

I was able to reproduce this issue and it is logged in our system to be further reviewed by our devs.

This issue is already logged in our system.
