Work in Progress/Tests / Re: I think I love Corona

hi zzubnik,

Is there any way you could share your plastic shader?

Looks great!

thanks

No problem. I added the material to the Corona Material Library

Max's native HDRI loader is the ancient Splutterfish one by Cuneyt Ozdas, unless they have changed it recently.

we will first finalize the implementation, during which the mapping of parameters can change, then we will provide the equations, or directly provide presets.

Presets are awesome, speeding up material creation hugely. I wish you'd reconsider having basic presets in the main Corona material too (clay, mirror, glass, plastic, etc as with A&D and iRay materials) as these make texturing large scenes so much quicker.  My ideal renderer would have the ability to add, remove and alter presets.

Can't wait to play with SSS.

Eh?

Thanks for posting this, I hadn't seen it before. It will be useful to keep in the toolbox.

Cheers!

This is the problem with render engines with a million settings to alter.

As a user of MR for 10+ years, and I love it, but I am disappointed at their disjointed, ragged development process, and the half-finished solutions that seem to be standard with MR, especially in 3dsmax. It's compounded by the lazy incompetence at Autodesk.

I've been using the GPU GI in Max 2015, and it really has a lot of problems, and isn't always faster than CPU.

All the above are why I prefer Corona as a renderer.

any mirror links? download links always failed me.

Are you behind a corporate firewall?

What about GPU acceleration? :) or even a full GPU version

Personally, I think it would be a waste of development time at the moment. GPU rendering has limitations which would need to be worked around.

Looking good!

I've got a very rough maxscript that sets up studio scenes. I use it for fast product visualisation.
I'd be interested in seeing your setups, and perhaps emulating them as options in my script.

Excellent work, and great to see you using Corona, Jeff!
The only thing that lets it down is the fuzzy backplate.

I would love to try this - but I keep getting

•Make sure the web address https://download.corona-renderer.com is correct.
•Look for the page with your search engine.

thanks

I get this at work; our corporate firewall blocks it for some reason. I had to download it on my phone and Dropbox it to my office computer.

So the public A6 doesn't?

I believe not.

AFAIK, only the daily builds have a max 2015 version.

Unless this was for a giant flythrough, much of that would be matte painted, if we're talking movies.

I'm not sure this is the type of render that this type of render engine is made for.
