it's better to wait the two CPU AMD Ryzen, called Naples

You are right, but there is a (very little) hope, those 16core CPUs could be in a less expensive region around <1000€, but the more I read ("Monstrous 4094 Pin Socket") I am afraid,
they just want to win the throne on the tower of power with a more INTELesque- Price. But the more on Ram and quadchannel etc. would be nice aswell. Hope I am just a croaker and the price is suitable.

oh man, this is damn good! Technical, atmospheric and well chosen colors.
So jealous, can´t find the right words... :-)

Just great, I love this slightly morbid atmosphere. It could definitely be the well colored version of the movie "last year at marienbad".
I look forward to your next great piece of art. Always a delight!

unfortunatly the problem with the broken built-in region rendering is still existing.
So far the only way to get a fast crop is by the classic way via area to render in rendered frame window.

btw. am I the only one who is using this feature excessively? :-o

I just realized a problem while rendering a region.
The region stops updating/ refining, the passes count is increasing quite fast in an unnatural way. Around the edge of the region
for just a few pixels it continues refining, when havin a close look, which is the reason why the count of passes is still rising.
I know there was this feature with a green frame, but I never used it and it is disabled.

I had this problem in a daily build before, but before I was able to complain, it was gone, now it came back:-(

Thanks

That was a close shave, for a split second I felt like one of those guys, who assert, they are reading the playboy because of the articles.

Ok ok,

...I thought the majority would have been reading the following interesting article.

better?!

At the bottom of this review, there is a comparison of 2133Mhz vs. 2666Mhz and it makes a suprising difference. btw. he uses corona :-)

Disco stu loves Disco! ...well done

It would be interesting ( I doubt it) to find out, if 2500€ will be enough for a dual CPU Naples solution, but not impossible.
The faster RAM Usage in Naples could become (more) interesting, for your plans of using "gaming" Engines like Unreal, which is right now more or less a Archilles heel of the Desktop Ryzen.
At the moment I didn´t even understand which single banded/sided whatever RAM is the right correlate, I just realized Naples is more universal (ECC etc.)
But they are always talking about dual CPU Naples, have there ever been reportings of using (just:-) 32 Cores singe Naples CPU ?!

These days, there might be a lot of people, thinking of swithing to the great Ryzen CPUs. It sounds like real candy, if there would be some optimization potentials. But I think there is enough preasure on you guys to fulfill the deadline for 1.6 ;-) But mayyybeee .....?!

Have the AMD server CPUs in past been much more expensive, I always asked myself (and google) of buying the ryzen now or waiting for dual cpu naples systems, but not for >1000€ per CPU.

Funny, I just had been reading an article about those US "Siegfried&Roy"Style buildings in Spiegel Online, referring to MCMansionHell and thought the same :-)

Hardware / Don´t beat me, but...
« on: 2017-01-10, 08:19:06 »
These days I am struggling with the question, do I build a WS with 2x 2683v3 or 2x2680 v1 because it is quite cheaper and the cpu doesn´t need to be imported from China.
I had for two days a HP 620z but (as already mentioned in this Hardware section) with ist proprietary bridges, adapters and a mainboard which suddenly dies and 2 dimms of broken Ram, I sent it back.
But my question is, because I am always out of ram - my 4770k with 32gb is to weak- , is the 2683 worth the higher price and what do you think of the upcoming Ryzen/ Naples (Multi CPU) Systems.
Everything sounds so great, but nearly 15 years ago, I had 2 AMD K6 or K7 Athlon, I don´t remember anymore and both died in a short period of time and AMD refused the warranty, so I am little warry about them. They had been the reason, why I solely used Macs with bootcamp until two years.

What do you think about the latest progress of AMD Server/WS/Desktop CPUs? Are they worth waiting? Thanks in advance.

Off-Topic / Re: 4k Real time render by AMD

Everything looks generally more like a unreal "low Poly" hmmm optimized rendering, but I think they are on a really good way. Although I don´t think that especially AMD will not find the holy grail in realtime rendering.
