[Max] General Discussion / Re: REBUS RenderFarm
« on: 2017-04-27, 10:12:26 »
Are they supporting 1.6 already? If so, do I need to update RebusDrop manually or something?

- and how far is RebusFarm/Corona in the development of saving Corona EXR files - This would really be a major step forward.

It would be cool if you Coulter add  'keep aspect / proportions' option in real World Scale on Corona Bitmaps. Should be an easy task to do but has tremendous effect on the workflow, - at least for me.
I have never really understood why this feature has ben left out, as it extremely useful.

Thanks

Is it too late to add  'keep aspect / proportions' option in real World Scale on Corona Bitmaps. Should be an easy task to do but has tremendous effect on the workflow, - at least for me.

Hi there,

The phenomena is called dispertion and Corona dosn't support it directly (yet). But it is possible to fake it.
Here is a post on the forum on how to do https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=1127.0.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Forest Pack and DR not working
« on: 2017-01-10, 10:19:04 »
This is clearly one of your nodes that can't find the source files referenced in your scene.
Unfortunately iToo has made it hard to maintain the links, as it often forces the default paths in your setup. You need to set it up buth in your project ini-files, your user paths in Max and in the registry  - and even then it tend to f... it up.

If you have run an update of iToo software, you are back to square one again. I have complained to iToo about this matter, and they replied that they are currently working on a new installer that should keep your setup once it's set.

THe best you can do at the moment is to cehck your links in your asset browser - and ensure that it points to a common drive that all your nodes can see.

Just a little study of new functions and models.

Mainly to test Corona 1.5 Tone Mapping and LightMix.
The windows, mouldings, floor panels, pipes and radiators are done using RailClone.

Xmas version:
The Xmas tree with decorations is done using Growfx.
The festoon outside is done using ForestPro.

Only minor color and light adjustments done outside Corona / MAX

Merry Christmas to all you fellow Coronauts

Your glass panel sliding doors look MASSIVE!!! Something like 5 cm thick, - that can't be right, huh? Even half would be too thick. They would weigh a ton - look away from the fact that they are not possible to get inside the apartment. Beside that, your scene need IMHO more contrast it is very pale.

Sorry all for late reply, - busy time.

@Yagi: Thanks, You are right, the exteriors are not as good as the interiors. I was fighting with a shitty Revit model - and that stole a lot of time unfortunately. The best would had been to remodel the whole building in MAX, - but due to the tight deadline I had to go with the Revit model. Am I the only one that things that Revit models suck?
I see in the clear post light, that the street doesn't look good - and that could have been much better. It's noted and I will do my best to improve these things in coming projects. Now we have the distance map it should be possible to do like how BB3viz in his tutorial about street material, - and I will try to implement it in my coming projects.

@daniel martins: Thanks a lot.

@Christa Noel: Thanks, - yes, the roof is flat metal sheet in zink. One could argue that the assembly edges could be more distinct. But I followed the guidelines by the architects, to my excuse ;O)

@Kristof Van den Berghe: Thanks, - the floors are made using floorgenerator - and then added oak plank Multi texture floor boards from CG Source, this one to be precise: https://www.cg-source.com/details.php?id=0140-01&pricat=multitexture

Visualization of high range apartments made in an old print house on Vodroffsvej, Frederiksberg, Denmark.
The project consisted on 3D visualization, design and production of web-site, building site banner and printed sales material.
The project has been done in collaboration with Woods Brand Marketing. See more at www.hassinghus.dk

Technical data:
The exterior building is made in Revit, and modified in 3DS MAX
The landscape, trees and plants, cars ect are made in 3DS MAX. iToo's RailClone and Forest Pro has been widely used.
The interiors are mostly modeled in 3DS Max, with wide use of RailClone for getting a optimized and easy changeable model.
Post has been done using Photoshop.

Hope you like it :)

Well it works fine here  - only problem it only shows up in the diffuse channel - would be so much more useful in masks (at least to me :o) )

Hi,

It would be GREAT if Corona would support Vector Maps in all Channels - at the moment it is only supported in the Diffuse Channel and it also works in the composite map as a layered diffuse map - but I haven't been able to use it on other channels. It is fx. not possible to use the very useful vector map as a mask in layered material, mix or blend - which could be very handy when you make decals or road lines or road signatures - well ton of things.

The good thing about vector maps is essentially that they are not loosing quality, as it is a vector map,

My main use would probably be in connection with a visualisation of streets - one vectormap can be used for road stripes and signatures in an entire city. No more uvw wrapping - wouldn't it be quite cool?  As mentioned it works at the moment using a composite maps in the diffuse channel - but it could be much cooler if you could use it as a mask - on all channels.

Cheers

Cool, thanks a lot. But it would be great if it would be in the statusbar or as a loose toolbar that could be docked, - as Halloween is mentioning in the thread.

General CG Discussion / 3DS MAX Measure function as toolbar
« on: 2016-06-01, 10:58:30 »
Hi there, I'm using the 3DS MAX Measure function quite a lot often as the floating dialog - but it always come in way, for some reason. So I have been wondering if any of you has met or are able to fast code the measure floating dialog - but as a toolbar, so that it can be docked in Max's surrounding frames.

Off-Topic / Royalty free art for use in ArchViz???
« on: 2016-02-09, 14:30:51 »
Anyone who know a good place for getting royalty free art that can be used in my visualizations? With this I mean paintings, posters ect.
I know I can get some by Google images, but it is quite limited though. I also know that many of you probably would say, why bother - just get it from the net. But my customer is quite strict about using legal content, and since we will go "very public", we don't want to risk an claims.

How are you guys handling this problem? I have been in touch with the national copyrights authorities, and they say that as a rule of thumb all commercial use of content such as images of paintings, photos, posters ect. is protected by copyrights, unless the artist have been dead for more than 70 years. I see many paintings used around on the viz galleries, so either you don't care/bother or you have got it from some kind of royalty free source.

(I don't know if this is the right category to put this topic in, if not, then feel free to move it.)

Thanks

True, - it's a workaround. But I still think it would be great to have this option on the material itself
