I don't have that directory / file location?

Anyway I did a general search for that file in app data and it's already set to that.

I am not sure how to change this but when we submit renders to our render nodes the Max VFB pops up not the Corona VFB.

I have tried copying the .ini file from a workstation that works fine onto our render node but that does not work.

I can't open max as our render servers do not have the graphical capability.

How can I get the corona VFB to appear?

So not the most vital feature I can think of but still something I think would save a couple of clicks and we all know they add up!

What I would like to see is a "clear" selections button on custom masks relocated/added to the main render window screen. As Seen in the first screenshot.

Simple, people may not agree but it would make my life a little better

My results are very mixed! Cool spot to keep an eye on though. Thanks.

Super fast example file! May help. =)

Rough guide!
I would poly model it;

Start with a flat plane
Sub dived it to a level where the polygons match the hole size and then cutout according to the details, alternating lines.

Add a Shell modifier ** edit to this, you should extrude the geometry back to create the constraint lines if using turbo smooth.

Now decide which smoothing option you want to use.
Turbo smooth or Open Subdiv. Add to the top of your mod stack.

Under that modifier add an edit poly that controls either your crease strength if using Open Sub div or constraint lines if using turbo smooth.

When happy add a bend modifier and curl up into a 360 degree mesh.

* you can also start with a very small section of the detail and then just array it along and weld.
* work out the circumference of the detail and lay out the plane accordingly.

In my opinion I would use 3DS MAX / MAYA or MODO for something like this.

3DS wise I would refer to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSLLdTBwLMfTKWS56tOiQpw for any tips on modelling. Can even request custom models off him I believe.

Hardware / Re: RAM Temperature
« on: 2018-01-31, 16:42:25 »
What RAM are you using, it's not overclocked is it? I personally have never run into this, with those temps it's not really a problem but keeping things cool is always a good idea for longevity!

Secondly the Noctua Towers can allow for ram to sit under them, depends on the model + the profile of your RAM. I have a large Noctua cooler which has to be removed to access some of my RAM however there is still 4mm or so of clearance.

General CG Discussion / Re: Render slave - RAM vs Core count
« on: 2018-01-08, 19:17:10 »
There is no correlation between core count and the amount of RAM required in the scenario.

32GB will be a struggle with imagery over 4K resolution with passes +denoising however if your workstations are geared towards 32 then having WS+Render nodes on 32GB won't be a problem.

Overall I would highly recommend buying 64GB of RAM Per node and then getting as many cores as you can.

Pick core/thread cont over Speed (GHz) as this will usually provide you with greater rendering output (ie the XEON range). You can buy a lot of 2nd hand older gen Xeons that data centers sell on, this is a super cheap and effective way to gain render power if you can assemble the machines yourself.

Hi This will add object ID per layer and then add the MME to your render Elements.

Thanks Lucky, very kind of you.  Happy Christmas!

Overall it's just maxing memory, paging causing the crashing. I find this happens on our slaves as their hardware isn't geared as well to cope with paging. The workstations however have faster storage speeds via SSD newer ram ect.

Have you tried reversing the process via sending it to a node on backburner and then turn the worksation's spawner on?

What resolution are you rendering?

I would start by looking to optimize the scene =/. Isolate which forest pack object is hogging the most RAM.

Also does this scene work on previous versions of Corona?

Hardware / Re: HDD for data
« on: 2017-12-01, 12:59:32 »
I am surprised you don't see the difference when upgrading to an SSD.

I would recommend to install your OS and Core programs, max PS ect on the SSD and then have the HDD for all tertiary data that comes with them. With this situation most HDD's will perform perfectly fine. You will just have to put up with slightly longer loading times for your projects.

WD Blue has higher data density than the black which will help also they are generally quieter. The higher Avg. 4K Random Mixed IO Speed of the black will helps a lot in OS/program loads ect but once again if you let the SSD deal with that you won't have a problem.

Unless you have an AMD FX-9590 and then nothing can keep the thing cool....

Yup, all my builds have Noctua. Incredible product quality. Glad you have it sorted!
