*update

I tested a few different scenarios and it appears that the problem has to do with the size of the psd file created.
The more passes you add the bigger the output file will be. Seems that ±2gb is the maximum output size that allows a psd file to be saved.
Not sure if this a corona or a general os limitation.
Using 16bit instead of 32bit pretty much solves the problem for now.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.
I believe it is not scene specific. I replicated the issue with a basic scene with just a Corona sun & sky and simple cube.
I attach a video showing the same behaviour.
OSX Mojave, C4d R21

Thank you

Hello,

Since last build it appears that corona is unable to automatic save psd multi pass files after render completion.
Weirdly enough, after some testing I realised that this behaviour occurs only for resolutions over ±3.5k.
A psd file is created temporarily at the save destination but is automatically erased completely.
I am attaching a video showing the problem.

*I can still manually save all passes from the VFB, the issue though is that when rendering a sequence of images if this bug occurs then the rendering stops completely and does not proceed to the next frames.

Thank you in advance

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Is this a bug?
« on: 2020-04-03, 14:12:09 »
I get this sometimes as well. Usually if I reselect the material cmd+C in the original scene without selecting any geometry, then cmd+V in the new one it works. I guess it would be the same for windows.

I don't know if this is a bug but something is wrong.
The same free texture from megascans.
Simple cube 2m x 2m x 2m and two different projection: UVW Mapping nad Cube 1m x 1m x 1m
Two versions with and w/o albedo textures. Bump with corona normal shader - 100%.
Someone can confirm this problem?

Windows 7 + Cinema 4D R20 + Corona 5 hotfix 2

Same here, replicated the same issue. Cubic projection seems to create some weird issues with the normal map. ( like sharp wide edges )
Maybe this a C4d issue though. In any case good to know cause I don't think you can notice if you are not looking for it.

I solved the issue by deleting some preference files created form RenderClient after a few team render tests.
Restarting c4d and focus distance is back to normal.

for anyone that happens to come across this problem again,
preferences files can be found :
library/preferences/MAXON/

Cheers!

Hello everyone,

I am having a bit of a sudden trouble with Corona camera's focus distance tool, becoming greyed out.
I tried reseting preferences and reinstalling the latest build but nothing changed.
Do you have any suggestion for troubleshooting ?
( focus object works perfectly by the way )

Thank you

Of course anything you might need.

It is an outdoor scene, no vegetation yet, large in scale but very few polygons, file size is 70mb in c4d. I was also using round corners if this is significant.
I tried exporting everything and setting up from the beginning nothing changed it kept crushing at pass 6. I have heard in the forums of some adaptive algorithm after pass 6 but cant find it, maybe this is a clue?  The only solution that worked for now was  going back to the previous build.

First of all, Congrats to the developers for all those fast updates & fixes.

Testing on MacOS with the latest build and I can confirm that

all of the following:
low resolution of textures in Viewport
nonworking render regions on macOS
round edges shader
instances not updating materials if their parent updates

have been fixed with the latest two versions

The thing is that since yesterday I am having some weird crashes  ( and that pretty much never happened before )
on a large outdoor scene I am testing and since I couldn't replicate the problem in other scenes  at first I thought there was something wrong with the specific scene. I tested with both 13/OCT & 11/OCT build and they were both crashing every time.

Unfortunately! Going back to the build of 9/OCT seems to solve the problem but without all those nice fixes you introduced, so maybe it is a combination of problems.

Anyone else having the same problem?

I've attached one of the bugreports in case it could be of use.

Cheers!

Thank you for your fast replies!
I did a lot of testing with "Volume" yesterday and I think I am close to achieving the desired effect.
I am going to post my results as soon as I can after I organise them a bit. I think many would find them helpful.

Cheers!

[Max] I need help! / Realistic Sea Water

Hey there,

I was wondering if there is a certain workflow to achieve realistic results with a sea water shader. I am trying to create the transparent-feel that sea water has in small depths where it meets the sand.
Is there a way to use the usual "max distance" options for reflection & refraction in the current Corona build.
If not is there an alternative?

Current shader

no-diffuse
reflection ior 1,33  glossiness 90%
refreaction ior 1,33  glossiness 100%
layered noise displacement

Geometry
simple plane

Thank you in advance
