These renders are, of course, sublime. Congratulations :)

Can you please explain the texture workflow for the village buildings? For example, is everything textured procedurally or are some of the assets textured in Substance Painter or Mari?

Sorry CJWDD. didn't see this one. Actually no. Simple cubic maps mostly with a bunch of mix noises and AO mask. I later added little bits here and there in Photoshop :)

Marvelous work, mate. Loving the composition, lighting and detailing. How long did did u spend on this project? :- )

Also noticed the story/activities told in the renders.

Hard to say Melviso. I have been at least for 2 and half years on and off with the whole project. That particular image took me maybe around 4 to 6 weeks without counting how long it took to create the assets.
The Merchant Portrait took me a couple of months of hard work as i had never done characters before.

Beautiful rendering, I love the attention to detail!

One funny thing I noticed: I might be mistaken, but isn't this a Spanish colonial church in the background? :-)

I didn't noticed these latest comments!. Thank you guys! it keeps me going.

Yes, Huoska!.It was indeed a colonial church poking in the distance which i retouched to look like a Mayan Pyramid Crest. i guess i failed there cuz still looks colonial. I hate you now :)

Thank you arqrenderz!.
Will post some render passes and more details as soon as i find the time.

My latest personal one. hope you like it
Personal one?
Personal?
That is breathtakingly awesome! Absolutely perfect execution.
Good lord the resolution and the detail. The 3000x1340 res is underscored as low. As if to mock us :P You own a personal renderfarm?

The landscape is Avatar level detailed and alive. Screenshot from Avatar attached, you are definitely matching the quality of one of the most expensive movies ever produced.
The Fog, the lighting, everything plays perfectly together. Is the smoke done in post or in renderer? Because it interacts perfectly with the shadows and so on.

Is it an actual personal project, as in no team was involved?

This reminds me of Age of Empires a bit. Something like one might dream future games will look like.
Another Corona artist posted an image of a building modeled in the Dune universe. Which is what I imagine Dune 2000 would look like in 2050.
This is exactly what I imagine Age of empires 2 with it's Maya expansion "The conquerors" will look in 2050.

Hahaha! Thanks for such candid takes. it really inspires me to keep doing more. Funny that you compare it to Avatar. I used to work at Weta :)

Yes, it is just me :) ..but it goes very slow as i have to juggle with other things. So far i have only Two final images for the project.

The smoke is added in PS. I'll play with some cg one for the next image.

I don't have a render farm or that much RAM. I eventually couldn't render it at home so sent it to a Farm online for a single frame. It went really quick, mostly the file handling was the hassle. I put a 200 passes limit so it was a bit noise ...but an acceptable noise . Final resolution is 12K.

Wow! thank you guys for your kind comments. I wasn't expecting such interest :)

Juraj and Roland B: The work is indeed a shot for a VFX production, a Documentary to be more specific ( though what you see here is the background with no plates ). It wasn't a difficult shot "vfx" wise as the camera only did rotation but it was quite of work on the research/modelling aspect. I'll include some images to give you an idea. But this is roughly the story:

During Roman times Peter the Apostle ( First pope of Rome ) was crucified upside down by Nero ( AD 64 ). He, the story goes, died looking at the famous Egyptian obelisk brought by Caligula in 40BC which was located at the center of the Circus of Nero.
So later on Emperor Constantine the Great built the first Basilica on Peter's name around 319 and 333 AD and this is the smallest building on the right side. It was build around the ruins of the Circus and the Obelisk stayed in it's place til much later.
By the end of the 15th century the Basilica laid pretty much in ruin so pope Nicholas decided to build a new one on top of it. This took a long time. The main engineering feast was the Dome which was finished by the Direction of Michelangelo who died in 1564. At the end there was nothing left of the Old Basilica but Saint Peter's tomb which still can be seen. The Obelisk was eventually moved to its current location in 1586 taking months and 900 men .

So. in the image i had to cheat as the client wanted to capture a long period in a single moment. The old Basilica should have been in Ruins and the Obelisk should have been standing in the center of the image ( see images ). Apart of that the image could be dated around 1555-1560.

Rumullus: Chilombiano is indeed Chilean + Colombian / A nickname given to me when i lived in Chile which wasn't entirely accurate as i'm half Russian half Colombian :)

In this first batch of attachments is some of the ref used for the Old basilica and Blue prints of the buildings including the Obelisk and Roman circus locations

Thank you guys!

Thanks for the answer Ondra. didn't know it is actually complicated to add. i really was crossing fingers it was some simple output thingy ..

But please. What you guys are doing for roadmap for 1.7 is, i say again, impressive!. didn't wanna sound ungreateful at all :
The thing is Deep data is now pretty much a cornerstone for the way a renderer plugs into a pipeline. The whole compositing workflow for many studios is now deep comp so not being able to provide them with that gets Corona out of the equation from the get go in many instances. which..well, sucks :( as then there is no chance to play with all those awesome 1.7 features. (  is not just asking for moarr! :).
I personally try to avoid using it due the file size nor i would get the best of it as im not a comper myself. Just pushing you guys to put that one toe at the VFX door. And because i hate supervisors asking "but where is deep channel ..blalbla "! :). you know..dogma is a powerfull thing.
