News / Corona 1.00.02 bugfix
« on: 2015-03-16, 22:30:40 »
We have just released bugfix version 1.00.02, available to all customers.

It fixes these problems:
  • Licensing server is now a 32bit application, and has an option to run without UI (with -n commandline switch)
  • Framebuffer sidebar is now on by default
  • Fixed some crashes/freezes when parsing geometry
  • Fixed wxWidgets assert and/or crash when starting Corona
  • Fixed crashes (error -1073741795) when starting Corona
  • Fixed crash caused by displaying CoronaColor texmap in viewport
  • Fixed "error 127" when loading Corona on Windows Vista
  • Fixed error causing different frames being rendered on render nodes than on master when using DR
  • When running without a license, material editor will now show it is missing a license instead of rendering black
  • Changed default sensor width from 35mm to 36mm
  • Fixed a bug sometimes causing Corona Scatter not to be displayed in the viewport
  • Fixed Corona VFB spinners not being usable when system decimal point and thousands separator are set to the same character
  • Fixed crashes when using XRef-ed scene containing CoronaSun
  • Fixed bug sometimes causing Corona Scatter to report negative polycount values.

Licensing, outputs, compatibility is exactly the same as previous build. We advise everybody to update. Get the update here: https://corona-renderer.com/download/

« on: 2015-03-13, 00:59:22 »
We have just released an update of the free version Alpha v6, that supports 3ds Max 2015: https://corona-renderer.com/download/

In case you want to use A6 distributed rendering with 3dsmax 2015, use this DrServer instead the one that comes with the installer: https://download.corona-renderer.com/builds/3dsmax/DrServerA6-2015.exe

[Max] Daily Builds / Daily Builds 1.0 - 1.4
« on: 2015-03-01, 21:39:11 »
With the release of 1.0, the daily builds system is changed (hopefully for the last time). This section is now visible to all registered users, and old topics were removed. Old daily builds will be phased out (activations will go out in the middle of March). The old logins will be deleted and forgotten. Now onto the new stuff:

Daily Builds Eligibility

  • Everyone with FairSaaS or Box with Subscription license now has access
  • No requests/applications necessary

How to Use Daily Builds

  • Get the Corona Universal Installer and install a regular version of Corona first, if you already havent done it already (https://corona-renderer.com/download/) and activate the license.
  • Go to https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mswauuv1afec8am/AAA5OKrd_QujokDM3mxQ7S40a and download a daily build. They are located in folders named using the date they were created.
  • Select the appropriate version. You will need to pick a legacy version if the Corona Universal Installer displayed a warning that it will install a legacy version (this happens on most AMD and old Intel CPUs. All i7/i5/i3 can run the regular, faster version).
  • Copy over the 4 files (plugins/Corona201x.dlr, plugins/CoronaUtils201x.dlt,  CoronaLib_Release.dll, and Corona_Release.dll) to your 3ds Max root folder. Make sure that all 4 files overwrite the already present files.
If you want to have the Dropbox folder synchronized with your desktop dropbox app, instead of having to access it via web, send your dropbox email to info@corona-renderer.com

Daily Builds Changelog

There is a separate topic for that: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,7238.0.html

Daily Builds Rules

  • USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Daily builds may contain unfinished features and not be stable, may damage your scene, freeze your 3ds Max, make you miss your deadline. Reverting scenes from daily to stable builds might not always be possible! Always make backups of important projects. Use daily builds with caution and common sense.
  • NO OBVIOUS-BUG REPORTS IN THIS THREAD/SECTION. To report a bug, use the bug reporting forum section or Mantis bug tracker. Discussion "Is this a bug?" is fine, but if something is clearly broken, please use the appropriate channels.
  • NO REPOSTING UNFINISHED FEATURES. Although we do not require signing NDA beforehand, we ask you not to repost info/screenshots/videos on unfinished features outside of Corona website. It could make Corona look unfinished/unstable to outsiders. When in doubt, ask first before reposting.

News / Added code signing
« on: 2015-02-23, 17:29:59 »
Starting with the 1.0 release, all .exe files (installer, DR server, license server, ...) will be signed with our brand new company code signing certificate.

This is how the open file dialog looked before:

And this is how it looks when the binary is signed:

Here are the signed file details:

This has 2 major advantages:
  • Antivirus software and browsers should stop tagging Corona as dangerous software and stop blocking it.
  • You can easily check that a file comes directly from us, was not tampered with, and therefore does not contain any viruses/spyware/adware/..., and is safe to run.

News / Bug in Alpha7/7.1 after 1.1.2015
« on: 2015-01-03, 10:15:54 »
There was a bug in Alpha v7/v7.1 that caused 3ds max to crash after 1.2.2015, because the usage period of Corona has expired. This was a bug and NOT an indended behavior (intended behavior was that corona would not load, but 3dsmax would). We are sorry for it.

As a solution, you can install Alpha v7.2 (https://corona-renderer.com/blog/alpha-v7-2/). I have recently fixed it so it does not contain the same bug after it expires (in 2 months). So downloading and reinstalling is recommended even if you already updated.

Or alternatively, you can remove Corona with this simple uninstaller: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,6483
