[Max] I need help! / Looking for an HDRI article
« on: 2021-03-06, 13:53:10 »
Hello there,

I try to find a nice article about how to use HDRI in Corona. The article is relatively new. It came out 2 or 3 months before.
It was written by some noteworthy archviz artists and it was basicaly an introduction to some online courses they will release soon.
The article was explaining the whole theory behind HDRI and how to use Corona Color Correct with it.

Help!

Hello everyone!

I would like to share with you a commissioned project we did in 2019.
It's a 5-star all inclusive hotel in the island of Kefalonia, Greece.
A lot of new techniques hace been used on this project, the most important was caustics.
We started working on the project during Corona 4 period and, although caustics were available in Corona 4, we had a lot of noise and render times problems.
Fortunately, Corona 5 came out just before the final renderings and the difference was really impressive. Displacement's improvements have also played an important role. This project would not be the same without Corona 5...

Huge thanks to Corona team! Keep going guys!

[Max] I need help! / HDR image through Lightroom
« on: 2020-02-09, 13:05:21 »
Hello dear Corona people!

Some time ago I have started post-proccesing my images with Lightroom.
I like to approach my images as real photographs thus Lightroom is a great tool.

Currently I am working on some interiors and I face a problem of overexposed (burnt) areas where the sunligh hits.
I have tried to solve the problem with "Highlight compress" and "Filmic highlights" but in order to eliminate the burnt areas I have reached values where the result is not appealing (flat and fake-ish light).

In photography, there is a technique where you take multiple exposures of the same scene and then you merge all of them in Lightroom in order to create an HDR image, where highlight are not burnt and shadows are not crushed black. It's called "bracketing"

I have tried to replicate this technique with my renders but Lightroom seems to not accept 16bit or 32bit tiff images for HDR merge.

I was wondering if there is someone out there who knows if that works and if it works, what's the process for it.

Cheers,
Christos

[Max] General Discussion / UVW Randomizer in different maps
« on: 2019-10-04, 15:09:40 »
Hello there,

I am trying to use UVW Randomizer on a wood material on 3ds Max. The randomizer works but there is a problem. The wood material has a diffuse map, a reflection map, a glossiness map and a bump map. The problem is that the UVW Randomizer randomizes differently these maps. That means that the bump is not aligned with the diffuse and so on.
Any solution to that?

Thanks

[Max] General Discussion / Some thoughts on Caustics
« on: 2019-06-11, 14:34:34 »
Hello there,

Now that hype is gone (at least for me) for the new caustics, I just want express some random thoughts.
Caustics on Corona was one of the most wanted features for a long time.
The new caustics work and they produce nice results. That comes with a price though.
The render needs twice or triple the original time in order to be completed.
For me, it will be very difficult to use caustics on our production because of that extra needed time.
To be honest, I don't have expreriense with caustics on other render engines (time wise). So I am not sure what to expect from Corona.

What are your thoughts on this?
Will you intergrate caustics in your production?

Cheers

[Max] Bug Reporting / Portals affect ligthing in my scene
« on: 2019-05-25, 10:42:19 »
Hello there,

While I was setting up a relative simple scene, I have noticed that the portals make my scene darker and also make the render slower.
I always use portals for my interiors and this is the first time I see something like that.
I have attached two images. One with portals on and one with portals off.
The image with portals on took 7 mins and 5 secs to be completed
The image with portals off tool 4 mins and 15 secs.

Light also splotches alot, which is worrying.

If you need the scene I can send it.

Cheers,
Christos

Gallery / Product Visualization project!
« on: 2018-11-19, 17:35:49 »
Hello people!
We would like to share a project of us! We really like to work on product visualizations projects. It's like a break from architectural projects.
We have been commissioned to create an appealing and unique set of images. The purpose of the project was to create imagery to promote lovely products through internet (web advertisment, social media) and printed material (leaflets, printed banners and products catalogue). Our goal was to create photorealistic images of different styles in order to serve the client's needs on most occasions.
Hope you like it! :)

Gallery / Connex2 Office Chair
« on: 2018-07-23, 12:53:01 »
Hello everyone!

We would like to share with you an internal project we worked at the beggining of the year.
Whole working on a project, we had the opportunity to create the 3d model of Connex2. As we found ourselfs fond of the design of Connex2, we decided to make some images and a video in order to push the boundaries of office chairs presentation. Our approach was to create a rustic, yet minimal space. The images present clearly the design of the product and highlight every detail of it. The video shows the available variation in materials and colors of the chair. We would love to hear your thoughts!
Cheers!

Gallery / Olive Tree
« on: 2017-07-13, 01:23:48 »
Hello there,

First post here, as we have finished our first personal project with Corona. (We have changed to Corona as our main renderer for our commissioned projects since the beginning of 2017)
The project was mainly made because we wanted to create a very detailed olive tree model for close ups and set it available on the market.

In order to present our tree, we have created a set of images with Corona 1.5 and 3ds max 2016.
I hope you like them.
Comments and questions are welcome!

You can find our model on Gumroad for now, although it will come on Turbosquid soon.
