Title: Displacement bug in alpha 5 RC1
Post by: Chakib on 2013-06-04, 07:34:22
Hi guys,

I was testing the new Apha 5 RC1 ( thanks to keymaster ) legacy build, and i've found this bug :

Displacement doesn't work good in Alpha 5 rc1.

Here is a test with Alpha 4 :

and here is the  Alpha 5 result :

The Displacement map  is combined with a simple Color Correction map.

And if you try without a color correction map?

Can you upload me the scene?

Indeed, the displacement does not work!

Yes, at all does not work displace map in material, corona does not see map.
Such situation both with usual bitmap and with coronaNormal.

Yes, i was doing my Pacman candy scene (wip gallery) and i was using displacement and V4, no problems, then i switched to V5 RC1 and the render seems strange... I had to use displace modifier and remodel part of my model to use it, and drop from using the displacement on shader. :(

Result: if to take a scene in which already was displace map in material, and render in A5rc1,
That is simple not correct display displacement.
But if to create a new scene at once in A5rc1 displacement it is not displayed absolutely, an absolute zero.

I should have the displacement problem fixed, try the new assert in _2013 folder

Ondřej, see e-mail.

Ondřej, see e-mail.

There is one global switch to disable/enable displacement in the common render settings dialog (under resolution etc.). You had it unchecked, hence all displacement was disabled.

AHAHA! Ondra has reduced all from mind release A5)))

Hi everyone,i know this isnt the topic to talk about but i like to know if in this release of alpha v5 will come a new option of keep continuity on displacement map like in vray or near in the future?, since im having some problems with displacement corona v4 i attached a pic of the settings i use and the map. thanks a lot keymaster for such a wonderful render engine.

btw, what number do you guys put in 'max subdiv per poly' ?

no, this is not planned for A5

Thanks keymaster :), but in the future probably will have that option? or neither?

Thanks.

There is a temporary workaround for this: apply "smooth" modifier with a high value to smooth all the faces together. Should work fine in most cases.

btw didn't find any bugs in rc1 or rc2 yet

Thanks maru, but i already tried that option, its the image i attached its turbosmoothed with 3 subdivisions, some cases work if i apply brick maps, but didnt work if i appply stones maps.

I didn't mean subdividing mesh, just smoothing faces. Not using turbosmooth or meshsmooth but "SMOOTH" modifier. But it looks like it doesn't work in A4 anyway. :)

Hello to all! its really will be good to make the option "keep continnuity" at the edge of geometry
