RenderMan's new denoising technology, originally developed at Disney, can dramatically reduce render times while delivering images of the highest quality. Now you can render faster with fewer samples, resulting in an initially noisier image which is then transparently filtered by the Denoiser, producing a high-quality final image

can we implement this for corona ????
expect in near future ???

Considering Pixar patents most of their tech it might be a little challenging unless they open sourced it or are using a non Pixar technology, which in this case is Disney, which owns Pixar :)
-
This could be awesome indeed, but I'm also afraid that there may be some patent issues, I hope Ondra can achieve a better result in it's own way! Hehehe
Cheers

Yesterday, I couldn't wait to get back in town... Had to install the new RenderMan 20!!
Denoiser is a(totally?) post process function, maybe a hybrid photo denoiser, I can get pretty close to the same results with
the unfiltered image and Topaz Denoiser. [sad face]

incidentally in this case neither pixar nor disney owns the patents/rights. These are held by the start up innoBright Inc which is soon to release their first commercial release for Maya-V Ray and Maya Arnold with a few other's in the pipeline, including Corona.

It's interesting to see what InnoBright is doing as the push for realtime denoising. http://www.innobright.com/
Their standalone looks interesting and would rely on an AOV pass from Corona. Seems with Vray they are looking to do it behind the scenes during the render as opposed to a post filter like with Renderman.
Not sure how groundbreaking any of it is. I know RC with Arion has been doing AOV for denoising since 2013.

I Think We are getting some good news with 1.4(Denoising).....I am happy
