Title: Corona Lights Constraint Fail
Post by: Bob on 2015-07-14, 15:33:08
Hi I have been trying to animate constraint Corona light's to a Dummy helper that is a attached to a moving object, only to find out the lights change when you do, although they are fixed to this dummy and should follow the path. Has anyone got an idea why they change in intensity and direction? although both light + target are fixed to the Dummy and don't appear to have switched position in the viewport?

Sorry but this is an extremely vague report. More details, please. I just linked a Corona light to a dummy, then linked the dummy to an animated object and everything is fine. How did you rig all the objects together? Please attach at least screenshots, and the whole scene would be best.

If you have some rotating objects in your scene, then maybe you are experiencing this?

Hi Bob. I (also) just tried this without any of the problems you are mentioning. Are you sure you didn't accidentally animate the lights?

Hi unfortunately I can't show you the scene file or screen shots. The light change is noticeable once I render the scene before and after constraining the light to the dummy that is attached to the animated object. The lights are following the object and appear to be moving ok, but once you render you notice the change ( intensity, position etc) The object is moving in one axis no rotation. It should not affect the intensity.

UNLESS... the dummy transfer some sort of scaling...

Thanks guys! I will be working on this further and show you what I get...I will check the dummy issue.

Maybe you could recreate this behaviour in a different scene, for example with some simple objects.

....or describe in detail how your animation/link hierarchy is set up (just like Maru asked in his first reply). From what you've described so far, there could be some mistakes/errors - but it could also just be wrong words. I.e. you talk about constrained lights - aren't they not just linked to an object, or are they in fact constrained?
