Hello,
Many animation projects I work on are complex mechanical demonstrations that heavily use 3DS Max's slice & cap holes modifiers. It's buggy at best on imported cad models with random holes, tight corners, etc. I've tried the VrayClipper with great results despite not seeing the end result in the viewport but much prefer the amazing Corona for everything else!
I'd kindly like to request a similar feature in Corona... the CoronaClipper / CoronaSlice that has an 'animatable' slice plane and material ID.
Thanks!

Hi
I have to cut an entire model of an office but don't know how... Is there an alternative to VRayClipper that does not exist in Corona?
-
I only know of slice modifier and boolean / proboolean objects.
-
Thanks Maru... yes I think (sick) that's the only (hard) solution for the moment...
-
Bump up on this one, is there a better workaround to VrayClipper in Corona then proboolean?
-
Hello, you could try this method. Although dunno if it will work. I remember someone saying that vraydistancetex was working in Corona.

+1 for a CoronaClipper... we're about to do a very demanding sectional cutaway image and it would save a lot of hassle. The work-arounds are fine but time is money ;)

Oh crap, it works! Slow as hell, cumbersome to setup, but works :]
-
Yea, render times skyrocket even for super simple scenes - at least in Vray. But i guess any solution is better than no solution :]

I guess this workaround is still impossible in Corona despite the new distance tex because it lacks the inside/outside option.
-
Yeah, that was one of the first things i tried when CoronaDistance came out and no, it didn't work :[
-
I tried hacking it with back/front map but it is ignored by distance tex.
-
+1 for corona clipper as well!
-
+1 would be great to have this.
-
Guise...
Added inside color to distance texture
Guise!

Interesting, interesting!
The real trick would be if it works on complex shapes with multiple holes on the same/nearby face... Neither of Max's slice modifier, boolean or proboolean work properly, if at all with these model features.
-
It is render time boolean, so it should work with anything. :)
-
Any closer to having a solution that applies the objects texture to its bridge? In vray it is applied to lots and lots of objects in one go and it always looks great. If i understand correctly this only works on one object?

So many times asked for it in some others topic's, but no one paid any attention to it/
This really necessary thing for ArchViz top plan's and others architectural situation's, if Corona continues to evolve in this direction as basically///

Yes agree completely.

+1 for the clipper

+1 for corona clipper. Is it possible with latest version of corona?

Not sure if you are asking about the possibility to add this feature to the next version, or if it's possible right now, but the answer to the 2nd option is:

Yes, something like that but at object level. Thanks I will check that too.

The CoronaDistance option does work in some cases however I've found that it leaves artifacts with more complex shapes. It's tough to use it on a lot of objects too. With a 'clipper', similar to Max's slice, you can just paste an instance of the modifier on as many objects as you want.
