Title: Displacement & Desperation
Post by: Meireianer on 2015-05-13, 10:51:35

Dear Corona Forum Members,

I'm trying to find the right workflow between Max/16 and Mud/16.

Basically what im trying to do is sculpting a high res model of a damaged rock, and exporting displacement & bumps as maps to 3ds max.

Now no matter when or what i'm doing with bump maps, they always look clumpsy and smudgy and washed out.

But that may just be a resolution problem.
The real problem comes with displacement maps.
I don't know what corona is doing with them, it all goes crazy , out of place, sometimes it just becomes noise in the rendering.
I never reach this sharp detail to zoom into the camera.

Exporting from Mudbox even almost crashes my computer, it takes unusual processing power.

Going to attach some images now:

Hi,

1. Show your displacement settings in render setup
2. How do you enable displacement for the material?

Here is a guide on using normal maps:

Thanks guys,
unfortunately I had to stick to a simpler scene for this project.

Just used some bump mapping on a box, which also caused the faces of the box to tear apart.

It looked all right tho.

I have to see when this project comes back.

Thanks all!

This is not possible that a bump map could tear the mesh apart.
