Ok, what do you want in Alpha v4 the most?

Feel free to suggest other MAJOR new features/improvements which are not already in the poll

edit: Mac version is not in the list - it is a complex feature that has its own time schedule, independent of this poll

A feature that i'd really like to see is the possibility to choose which different texture (of the same material)  to display in the mapped object.
This is present in maxwell and i really appreciate it, i try to explain better: If you have a material with a diffuse plain color and a bump map you can choose to display that bump map instead of the diffuse color, this helps a lot to interactive map an object or set texure size.

I remember Ondra saying this will never happen in any version of Corona as the lags caused by DR would render IR useless.

Interactive rendering would be awesome and it is my main choice, as a new guy in 3D it is just great to learn how the settings work in real time and i suppose those who work with 3D would love having it.

On a non-realistic request, though i hope someday Cinema4D or Corona achieves this, is a a Material Node system.
It is a crazy idea i suppose and extremely difficult task however it would most definitely make the difference with other render engines.
I saw some videos from Arnold renderer and it seems it can be achieved.

Hej,

just one simple request / wish;
Please set the "bump-amount-value" a bit lower.
In some situations (fabric etc) I feel like going under 0,001 would give the correct result..
but it´s not how it should ment to be (?)

I´m very happy to see C4D becoming your maybe second main platform beside MAX :)
If it´s not too far behind the MAX Version in future..would be great!

Its very nice when developer seeks an opinion from users, unfortunately this is not common practice. Corona has come a long way in a short time and there is more ahead, ( not to mention Maaac pleaseeee ). Desires are different, depending on the interests and needs of individuals, it is impossible to please everyone.
 My modest wish is  Corona team take a breath, and deal with  polishing existing features like bump, lights values, mapping etc. instead of adding new at all costs.
 I vote for: More texmaps (AO shader, Wire, Rayswitch, ...).... but wish all stuff, pronto, for yesterday :D

PS. whether somewhere exist explanations about new materials, Mix and Portal?

i would love to see a working corona compositing tag! that would make so many things easier. i guess most of its use would be covered with a sort of shadowcatcher but the way vrayforc4d incorporated it also makes it possible to hide geometry from reflection, gi etc.

other than that i have some problems with instanced geometry. i haven't fully worked out whats happening but it seems related to normal tags, instances of grouped hierarchies. in these caes sometimes geometry disappears when activating "render instances". I'm not sure if proper render instances are supported yet so if they aren't then that would also get a big fat +1 as i often work with very complex and geometry-heavy scenes.

next thing that would be nice to see is a corona VFB. Actually i was wondering about the "interactive colormapping" noted as a feature for the latest corona c4d release. i wasn't able to find out how that works. can anyone point me in the right direction?

You can find it under your plugins menu under corona/colormapping (the light bulb icon) you can tweak exposure etc while you are rendering in the picture viewer and it will update it automatically. It doesn't work if the render is finished though, you have to tweak it while it's still rendering.

Yeah IR and DR for me. Also went for more shaders. Would love a mighty tiles type shader but I know its a big ask. We only have kendo shaders which is limited to regular sized 'bricks'.

Oh and is it possible to get a closer crop on the preview ball in the editor? There is quite a bit of wasted space around it that could be filled by the ball.

Render region works just fine, both viewport and render. You can do invert using filter, it's two more clicks.

Sorry for being so dumb but how do you setup the region in the render (not in the viewport)?
And where do you find the invert button under the filter?
I am using prime version of cinema 4d16.

I am so used to setup things in vray that i forget basic cinema functions, corona is much morte intergrated into cinema than any other render plugins!

I still can't invert image with filter shader.... :(

2) support render to quicktime 3D object with optional output 360-angle multi view split out rendering for further VR object editing . Since the C4D built in quicktime 3D object output not work very well, all the mapping texture missing.

That's something I'd kill for, vrayforC4d doesnt have them but I hope Corona team can cope with it, please?! :D . Thank you for V3 guys, your doing great job for CG community!

It let building a complex material in a user-friendly manner and speeding up the workflow a lot, as 3ds max does. More & more CG package come with a node base material editor,  Keyshot 6, LuxBlend, Octane for Cinema 4D ..etc.

Keyshot 6, Material Graph (node-base material editor) at 0:15/1:25

Hope Corona team can consider abt. that.

V3 bring some nice features..... bump and light are still toooo strong, but it has already become a trademark, and gradually getting used to it :D
Seriously, are there any plans for integration Cinema Hair?  It has wide application not only for hair, grass. With Corona scatter this be killer combo.

Stacking material tags.
It's essential to add "labels" (alpha textures) to base materials with different material settings and different mapping settings.
Imagine a tiled floor with some stains on it.

It's also a nice feature of 3ds max that cinema miss. It will be very helpfull. One more thing that is primary importance for me is the render region in the picture viewer. I'm trying to do a commercial work but without this feature and the one that i mentioned before, it is very difficult to me to close it. I also noticed a big aliasing around area lights.
Anyway, great job till now!

Render region is possible, i made same question some posts before, here's the answer:

@illbru

- First you have to open a irr(interective render region)
- Select the size you want
- open render settings/output
- tick render region, and select "copy from IRR"

and thats it.. next time you render to picture viewer.. it will only render the region you choose!

Light layers - allow you to separate contributions from different lights onto different "layers". Each layer can then be manipulated separately, even after the render has completed.

This is a 4 year old thread from before the first version of Corona was released :) To avoid future posts here, where they are likely to get missed, going to lock the thread now....
