Title: Displacement is tearing mesh
Post by: Shawn Astrom on 2015-05-07, 19:54:54

Is there a way to fix this in C4D?

Thanks!!

Hi Shawn

Try increasing the subdivisions in your cube.

I think the issue is that Corona needs UV mapping to know where the seems are. I'm also pretty sure that Corona can't fully use C4D 3D noises properly yet.

Here is an article on similar problem in 3ds Max but unfortunately I do not know what's the equivalent in C4D.

But in 3ds Max it will only work with procedural textures. If you are using a bitmap or some non-uniform map for displacement, there will be always tearing where edges with different displacement height meet.

Yes, in my test I was using Cinemas very awesome procedural noises. Bitmaps from Zbrush mapped with UVs work great.

Set phoing angle to 180° and make sure, no edges are broken. problem solved. ;)
(Similar to the Max technique)
