Title: Rayswitch Material and Displacement
Post by: awtivy on 2015-03-23, 19:16:43
I can't for the life of me get displacement to work on a rectangular plane if the material is a CoronaRaySwitch. Basically I want pool water with displacement as a bump map on the pool water is producing undesirable results as shown in attachment. The bump map is cut off after a certain angle. Bug??? I'd also like the waves in the pool to be animated. The material used is right off the Corona Material Library Website. (Pool Water)

Any ideas?

Can you show material?

Here is material. I'm also having a hard time adjusting the scale of the displacement map.

Indeed, displacement is not working when material is plugged in RaySwither. Not sure if it's a bug, but let's move your topic to bug reporting and let's see what Ondra will say :]

BTW, why do you need RaySwitcher in this situation anyway? Wouldn't it be better to create plausible water material?

Successfully reproduced the problem and logged on mantis: https://corona-renderer.com/bugs/view.php?id=1072

I've also attached a feature request to add single dropdown into rayswitchMTL for users to choose which slot will RayswitchMTL inherit displacement from, so that you can have for example displaced material that will not be visible to GI. If it was automatically taken from GI slot, it would not work for materials invisible to GI.

I am archiving this to resolved since it's logged on Mantis: https://corona-renderer.com/bugs/view.php?id=1072
