Hi,
is there a solution for gaps in displacement? These gaps appear on edges/corners for example
when displacement is for about 2cm on a brickwall.
In vray there is a parameter called setoff i think it was- when entering a negative value it was possible
to minimize it.
Is there something similar to that?

And shoult the vertices be welded?

I tested autosmooth in editable poly and that fixed the problem, thank you very much!

Sadly, its not the solution.
With autosmooth the surfaces look very strange, not realistic.
When i put a smooth modifier on it because of the strange normals there are again the open edges.
I think corona needs a offset parameter like vray for displacement or it cant be fixed really?

Ok, here are both versions, one with autosmooth and edges disapear und one with smooth modifier with correct surface but with edges.
For me the version with closed edges and the autosmooth in editable poly looks strange.

Try adding suporting edge loops.

Ok, but what exactly do you mean with adding supporting edges, what would be the best way?

Ok thank you, that helped. With a lot of Geometry its a lot of extra work :)
Perhaps the corona Team can implement such a setoff possibilty to set a minus value to avoid such gaps.
But for the first thanks for your help!

You don't need to use "subdiv" method, supportive edges can be done precisely in fraction of second using chamfers (ideally quad-chamfer plugin, or chamfer modificator in 2015Max).

Ah yea, you are right, that didnt came to my mind, thanks for that advice Juray!

While adding proper support edges requires more work, it's probably the only option if you want further subdivide mesh. Don't know how better quad chamfer is - don't have max 2015, but regular chamfer often is the worst choise.
