Title: Experiencing extremely slow render times with v 1.0
Post by: christofferthulin on 2015-03-03, 13:45:40
Hi guys

As the title says, compared to A7.

I am experiencing this with several scenes, all scenes I'm working with. Does not matter if it's simple or complex.

I attached a screenshot from a simple scene. A clay render only lit with an HDRI.

Five passes in one minute, 2500px wide. As I recall A7 would do at least fifty passes in the same amount of time.

Yesterday I tried to render a complex scene. The first pass would take hours. Not even vray would render the scene that slow.

I am a bit worried. Please help :)

/Christoffer

Hey guys,

Did my first C1.0 render last night, i reached about 75 passes. With A7 i used to reach at least 200 passes and above depending on the scene.

Hope we can break this down,

/Karl

Just for misc reasons sake:
Check in the "devel/experimental" compartment, wether Embree is active, or if it falls back on legacy methods.

you can enable the devel rollout in the performance rollout. But safer way to test this is to just use "Reset settings"

Hi....i am not getting the devel rollout in the performance tab...from where i can enable. i am using demo version.

Also can you please define or explain what is the reason behind on slow renderings in V1.0.

Hard to tell. Could be user error, some specific scene problem or a bug. We need more info.

Maru, what kind of info do you need?
For example:
-What does the scene look like? Is it very big or very small? Complex geometry? What kind of lights?
-Are there some specific features used like bump maps, normal maps, light mtl, ligts with directionality?
-Is it slow compared to A72 when using all uhd, hd or pt as secondary solver?
-Can you show screenshot of vfb > stats tab while rendering?
