anyone else had this issue?
started my computer this morning and Max wouldn't open due to Corona demo being out of date.
Logged on to Corona site and saw commercial version was available so bought a license.
Installed 1.00.01 and now none of my scenes will work with Corona Render selected. Max menus and dropdowns seem to work but viewport frozen or blank.
-
do you use CoronaColor texmap? If yes, try the latest daily build, there was one related issue fixed in it: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,7239.0.html
-
no, haven't used coronaColor but will give updated build a try
thank you
-
Did you activate the license?
see: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000568654
-
Activated it straight away.
When I open a scene, it seems to run ok (viewport seems to work) until I open the material editor, then it all goes wrong.
This is a real disappointment after paying for a subscription.
-
is it easy to revert back to the free version?
-
...after viewport crash, max will not close properly and comes up with an error message after closing.

comes up with an error message after closing.
What does it look like?
-
I got a different problem, as soon as i click anywhere in the corona buffer, max crashes.
Max 2015 64 bit.
-
Standard Autodesk error report
"A software problem caused 3ds Max to close unexpectedly"
unhandled exception
I've noticed that the material editor doesn't just black out the sample slots like it does if you're using an incompatible renderer, or haven't activated Corona, instead it looks like it's waiting to load them and they're just not coming up (showing white not black)

Can you post the minidump it creates? (See https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000524006) It would help me with debugging
-
it's a 2 mb dump file
where should I send it
-
for example here: https://corona-renderer.com/upload/
be sure to post here the full filename that will be displayed after you upload it
-
just uploading a dump data zip called 1425377550_dumpdata_mommus.zip
second file is 1425377601_3dsmax_minidump.dmp
thanks for your help
-
ok thanks, I will take a look later
-
any luck?
-
sorry, I am out for 2 more days, then I will take a look
-
haven't been able to do any work this week - are you any closer to a solution?
I've tried to roll back to the free version but max will no longer start
-
sorry, I am travelling this week. I won't get to it before tomorrow evening
-
I think there was a similar problem some time ago and this was the solution:
http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max-design/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Resetting-3ds-Max-3ds-Max-Design.html
Could you try this?

Hi,
I went over those minidumps, and it seems that the Corona_Release.dll (rendering core) is mismatched to Corona2013.dlr (3ds max plugin). Core is from a daily build, and 3ds Max plugin is from 1.00.01. Other than that, I got a location of crash, but it is in a function that is called only when 3ds Max is being closed. But it could happen because of the mismatch.
Can you try loading the latest daily build (and making sure you overwrite all 3 files)? If it crashes, can you send me a new minidump?
-
Hi,
any progress here? Have you seen my last message?
-
Hi,
any progress here? Was the version mis-matched?
-
No, unfortunately 1.00.02 is also causing max to crash - in the same way.
it seems related to the material editor, which when opened causes max to hang after a few minutes.
If I open a Corona scene, Max works ok, and can even render out at low resolution. However if the render finishes, or you cancel the render, a second attempt to render the scene also causes a crash - though in this instance, a max error message appears, allowing a recovery save.
As previously, the free version works fine.
