Such thick spider web strands could easily catch human, i guess ;]

I did a quick test with the spider web and really it was very thick. Maybe now it has gotten better

It is perfect now.

Maybe another render you could do is adding more small water droplets to the web and play with the light.

I would try slightly decreasing displacement on the branches and adding little reflectivity to them (high reflectivity, low fresnel, low glossiness).

Wow, it was very different than it was, it was better. Before seemed a bit 2D now looks like a 3D branch, I think.
