Here are a couple of renders of the new Mercedes-Benz AMG GTs. I used 3ds Max and Corona of course. More info on the project in my blog post: http://jeffpatton.net/2015/01/29/2016-amg-gts-renders/ (http://jeffpatton.net/2015/01/29/2016-amg-gts-renders/).

In the first one did you try to simulate heat haze on the exhaust?... how?... it seems odd.
And why the plates are colored?...

I didn't. The retouchers at MBUSA did. I assume they added that effect with Photoshop.
And why the plates are colored?...
It's what they requested.

Thanks!... from some time now i was looking for a way to do heat haze using corona. Maybe its time to try some ideas. Great images as usual!.
It is you in the mirror?. ;)

Great renders, the 1st one is stunning!
-
Nice renders Jeff, yep the heat haze doesn't do it for me.
-
They look really good as usual. Especially the blue one. :)
But the matte gray paint does look a bit weird. It's as if it had a lot less contrast than the rest of the image.

Bloddy brilliant.

The haze may be a problem though, as not everybody will understand the concept of haze and many onlookers might mistake it for some kind of molten plastic, there needs to be smoke to clerify it.
But simply beautiful anyways :]
added that effect with Photoshop.
I assume, somebody discovered the liquify button and felt like a god in chainsaw-kindergarden.

Amazing!

Jeff you are always number one when it comes to automative rendering. Greta images as usual. They should spare you one of those, especially the red one. ;)

Incredible renders. Great photography.
Do you have any tips for the asphalt? Is it procedural , is it sculpted ?
Thank you.

Thanks for the comments. I definitely wish they had put some exhaust smoke in there to help sell that effect a bit more.

Yeah, it's a bit off. They also removed a lot of the shadows under the car which makes it look like it's sitting waaaay up in the air too. Guess I didn't have the car defined well enough with the darker contact shadows, etc..
No, it's not me in the vehicles or reflections. I'm not sure who that is.
All of these are back-plate comps, so technically there isn't any ground texture/asphalt/pavement. Just the shadow catcher material in combination with the back-plate. When I do have to make asphalt I'd use a displacement map if the camera was very close, otherwise a normal or bump map should work fine. I'll see if I can create a decent looking sample that I can share. :)

I saw one of your versions of post processing on your blog. Perhaps you could try to post your version of that gray matte one as well. I am sure it will look a lot better :)

Your renders are beautiful, I also like the blue version a lot. Your car paint looks amazing, cars are really your thing, good job! :)

Hello Jeff,
I like your renders ! Super+ , but on the third render the edge contorl on the back surface looks like a bit to edgy. Anyway...I like that model a lot! Could you share with me how did you modeled and controled the edges ?
I should be so appreciated if you share your modeling ( specially the edge control ) workflow...or your wireframe render.
Cheers mate and keep rockin' !

Thanks for the comments.
The model is CAD data provided by the manufacturer. I'm not able to share the model for contract/copyright/legal reasons.

Hello Jeff
Great level as always. I prefer Jeff's original renders to Jeff's + MBUSA retouchers renders but anyway, stunning job.
