Hi all! I start use corona render and i like it, but at the same time got problem with very very slow render, about 200 000 rays/s. Render parametrs are default (untouched).
No idea that goes wrong. It could be textures, but no idea thats wrong with them...
Here is a scene http://we.tl/FyFilvSMYZ

Use a gif version of the texture in the green wall material you'll see a boost. The jpg texture is causing all the trouble.
This is a clinical case for KEYMASTER!.

Try to change texture to gif, also use other textures, nothing changes. =(

I will take a look later

the main problem is the wall material texture in reflection and glosiness slot is too "sharp" blur it a little in phostoshop ;)
-
My results just changing the texture in the wall material (save that jpg as .gif and using that gif as texture instead)
-
Is there bitmap paging enabled, with that file?
-
Holy crap!... it was, but disabling it does not give back performance. goes from 200.000 r/s to 280.000 r/s. BUT changing blur in original texture ups performance.
-
blured and re-safed to .gif, again no result. also change bitmap paging to disabled, it gives 600 000 rays/s instead 200 000
also use other dirt maps, no result.

bitmap paging disabled, removed bump maps on floor materials and retouched reflection/glosiness texture for the walls do the trick...

I did same with your recommendation. rendering time also 13 min, rays/s ~600 000

Hey Dimitri, stop using the Users folder Textures, max is known to screw things over. (And we get to know your name ;] )
Strip "5229950566_b9551d44e6_b" from every slot in the material (right click -> clear) and reset glossiness to 1 for now.
Instant 2,5 mio rays / second
Then you can rebuild the material to your liking.
I will take a look later
Pls do, somethings fishy in the way the texture is interacting with the bump in combination with glossy rays and the fallof.
Once the Texture is stripped from every slot, the speed goes from the formentioned 300k to instant 2,5mio rays/s
To save you some time just look at this and tell me that's not normal O.o

SairesArt, its the very first thing i did and after that I start to change different maps. Blured them, change format...

yeye. Anyhow, a glossiness map with a bump map shouldnt make corona put a jackhammer to it's knees while trying to eat a honeymelon out of a moving plate.
A least not from 2,5mio to 300k rays/s, a whole 82% decrease in performance!
As for now, just turn on normal glossiness and overlay a dirt map to simulate what you did in the render above.

Can you re-upload the scene?

I still have it

Bitmap paging was enabled in this scene. I disabled it and i am getting 1.2M ray/s on very old i7 870.
If you disable bitmap paging you first have to save the scene, close it and re-open to be sure it's really disabled.
I am closing this as resolved.
