Title: Siger various tests
Post by: Siger on 2014-10-27, 20:31:58
Hi!

comparatively recently I "found" Corona Renderer, and I was pleasantly surprised - is possible to predict (unambiguous) the successful future of this product.

Calculations speed allows "to play" very effectively with materials, and here I will publish tests of the some materials.

Rusty chrome-plated steel (full procedural - used Bercon maps by Jerry Ylilammi). Not finished.
If there is an opportunity to use Bitmaps - use them (best way - Bitmaps + Texmaps procedural). To use only procedural Texmaps for some materials is a perversion - for more or less realistic result we receive such "sausage"...

Some jewelry metals for the new CMPPmax (Corona Material Presets Pro for 3ds Max) :) Yellow Gold 14K and 18K.

Used new GGX shading model.

HOLY CRAP!!!!...
Now that's something!.
I have tried to do some rusted materials with no luck.

Great one!

Hi,
about two hours working with the procedural texmaps. Material is not complete, it is necessary to add scratches (additional), even a little dirt.

Can highly suggest SigerShader Mat plugin :- )!

I use it only for custom materials I create, but if the Vray shaders (which are quite nice!) were converted to Corona I would gladly use as well.

Wow these look great!

Could I put in a request for the following materials:

1. Corten Steel

2. Patinated brass

3. Antique bronze

4. And a full library of tillable marble textures, most notably white veined marble as there seems to be a distinct lack of high res Calacatta Oro type marble materials available on the market.

If the above were included it would be an insta-buy from me!

Yes and panels of wood too please ! It's very difficult to find large panels of wood, when having complete walls made of wood. They already are tileable and we always see the repetition...

I got the impression from another topic that you weren't too fond of the Siger mats Juraj....guess I was wrong.

I used the mr series for a bit, but like you ended up using them as a basis for custom materials.

No you are correct, I preached the plugin :- ).

But I bought about 2-3 weeks ago the 3.001 for everyone and it seems like all the materials are rebuilt, with curves from Refractiveindex (!!), so it seems like whole new set. But I use Corona mostly so :- )/

Hi,
to create some materials exist one serious problem with the CoronaMtl - Anisotropy orientation (rotation). It locked to global (world) space and is a big limitation to create materials like brushed/satin metals, some fabrics (silk, satin, moire, taffeta, crushed velvet, etc...), brushed plastics/carbon fiber... Currently anisotropy in CoronaMtl is absolutely useless: in case of change the object orientation or complex curvature geometry - anisotropy orientation still in the same direction. I very much hope that in case of opportunity will be made Anisotropy rotation in object/local/UV space.
But also at this stage material is very good ;)

Special/deco metal finishes. Antique Brass coated/matte. Full procedural, only Max/Corona texmaps. For CMPPmax materials I don't use third-party plugins (like Bercon maps). More advanced shaders will be soon available in MatRepo ( www.sigerstudio.eu ). I plan to create the new section (and mentally already I began :D ) at MatRepo for Corona materials.

The price for the lifetime license most likely will be as well as for other similar products (VMPPmax).
About CSSPmax - was such thought, but for this purpose I shall work a lot and seriously with Corona ;)

Does the Satin chrome have pure black diffuse ? It feels oddly plastic.

Your Vray3.1 chrome on FB looks bomb btw !.
Title: Re: Siger various tests
Post by: Siger on 2014-12-16, 01:37:58
Hi Juraj,
yes, it is understandable that no diffuse (black) :) It's very blurry chrome for furniture details (like door knobs, etc...). Other name Euro matte (but required very small bump (can be used cellular map).

To reproduce similar materials (as on FB page) - required mappable (per UV space) anisotropy param :(

Siger, did you unwrap the shader ball model? Your UVW mapping is much better than what Grant is using on his (can't show certain materials like brick, tile, etc properly). I tried editing the UVWs on my version but haven't been successful (I'm also not entirely familiar with unwrapping UVWs). Was also thinking of just remodeling the ball from scratch but haven't had the time.
Title: Re: Siger various tests
Post by: Siger on 2015-01-15, 16:39:56
My shaderball modeled (poly) from scratch (design based on Grants shaderball - I think it's currently best design for shaderball). Also it's manually unwrapped.
P. S. I have permissions from Grant :)

Polished concrete floor test (CMPPmax materials).

As you know, there are 4 levels of concrete polishing (with several variations)  - Level 1 - 4.
And also very much influences type of final exposure (full, random, nil exposure, warehouse, burnished finish...), seal...

Level 1

Excuse me for asking, but are there really no way of handling of map scaling in Siger? I mean, I am normally running in real world scale in cm - and loading any material from the collection the maps are all set to 1 cm - which is obviously not correct when you look at the individual maps. Is it really so that you have to set the map scaling for each map manually every time you use it - and I don't really see any way to save the new settings for the in built materials, as they are probably hard coded  into the plug-in. One solution is of course to resave all the materials in the user section, but not really a task I was expecting, - so I hope I have missed something somewhere :O)
Title: Re: Siger various tests
Post by: Siger on 2015-03-04, 12:07:48
Some time all maps (in VMPP) were used in real world scaling, but... more than a half of users weren't happy that!
Now difficult to remember their arguments, but since then mapping - the free choice of the user.
Title: Re: Siger various tests
Post by: LKEdesign on 2015-03-04, 12:34:35
Hi thanks for fast reply.

hmmm wouldn't it be smart then to have a setting in the plugin that handled this - Real World Scaling (Y/N) - and optionally Real World Scaling Unit ?
I suppose all the settings in the in built materials are hardcoded in the database, right? - So I suppose it should be quite easy to change the scaling?
As an alternative, could you maybe add controler in the material that handles the scaling - as they follow each other in size.
it would then also be nice to get a list showing the scaling you have used when you made the individual material.

Thanks :)

It's possible to think of it in the future... maybe about hint/note textblock on deflib interface for each material/group (texture coverage size, for example 300x300mm).

+1000 for Real World Scale option, coupled with correct scaled procedurally dependent on the units used.

Tried your free material samples, and I think you did a realy good job there. But the lack of Real World Scale means that one have to do his own corrected versions of your materials for use in most Arch Viz jobs.

Not as efficient as it could be ;)

Keep up the good work

Every time I see a finely tuned material applied on a small sample object of some sort I think nice, but how will this 20cm sample of concrete translate when I apply it to an interior floor? Could you provide an example of, say, a kitchen shot that makes use of these presets? Doesn't have to be anything astonishing geometry-wise but I'd like to see that how the stucco, stone, concrete and others look when applied to a scene that has real world scale objects in it.

Hello, I've got a question regarding buying CMPP and SIGERSHADERS Vol. 1 - is there any other payment method besides PayPal.
The thing is I live in crimea (yeah that same one :( ) and due to it's annexation by russia and following well deserved sanctions by eu and us, PayPal is no longer available to any of crimean denizens, be they russia loving or not, and thus, as a result, my account was suspended too.
On SIGERSHADERS Vol. 1 checkout page I have read the following : "you can pay with your credit card if you don’t have a PayPal account" - yet I hadn't noticed anything similar on CMPP's checkout page and I'm only presented with standard PayPal screen which got me a little confused.
If other payment method's are not possible, can I buy CMPP using my Ukraine residing friend's account and later on, then (or probably if :( ) russia will be kicked out of here and PayPal will be back, change my billing info to purchase some updates etc. using my then restored or some new account ?

P.S Atleisk uz kvailus klausimus bet maniske situacija yra ant tiek debiliska ant kiek tas is vis gali buti, pllius dar noretusi spet pasinaudot ta coronos pirkimu gauta nuolaida nes su pinigais paskutiniu metu visai ne tortas - po ruskiu atejimo cia tokia "procvetaniye" prasidejo kad turbut tik jiem to ir palaimesi )

Hi Siger,

I use both Vray and Corona, would I have to buy both CMPP and VMPP?

If you need materials - yes. If only material manager - enough one plugin :)

But aren't they basically the same materials? This feels almost a bit greedy since I would already pay for them once when I buy one of them, some form of upgrade price/discount would make a lot of sense to me.

I guess I will just have to use the Corona material converter.  :)

I must say that CCMP is quite a catch, but Its quite "small" library comparted to VMP

That's looking very promising, can't wait for the update.

A have a side question and perhaps you can awnser it here: There is the ability to use real world scale, but it's only possible in cm's. Since I work in meters I still have to manually convert the values. Could you also provide an option for real world scale in meters please?
