Title: Exterior Render
Post by: jonas007 on 2014-09-18, 17:23:50
Hello everybody, i ve been struggling a little with exterior rendering in Max/Corona, could anyone share some knowledge "how to", or is there any topic of reference that i could use to achieve good results ......

I know that corona is easy, its just PT/PT,  a corona sky and sunlight, and thats it, almost done ...Clik render...., but im not having good results .... ive tried   hdri   and diferent  positions of the camera and sun, tried some settings (corona sky) and always a bad image.....

Im sorry for the image that im posting, because there is nothing to learn there.... ( the quality level in the forum is increasing, and i feel a little bad in posting this image)

Can you see there isnt no "realism" in the image ...(like corona style im used to see in the forum) it looks like a render from LUMION ....  Any ideas ...please some help .....

I am afraid it doesn't involve Corona much at all though. Your image from technical(rendered) standpoint is good, it's clean from noise, has nice AA therefore the engine did the work quite well.
The rest is really up to individual proficiency in general CGI techniques, in creating the illusion of reality.

Have you ever watched any good tutorial on complete scene creation ? Detailed geometry, texture, quality materials, good choice of light and camera, all affect the realism to bigger degree than engine can.

I agree to Juraj. There are some basic issues in this Scene that make it look unrealistic.
The main problem is see are materials and textures. if you would put some work in there, the scene would mak a big step forward.
Additional detail would help also.

Maybe you tkae some reference photographs to get some ispiration.

Like other people already said, unfortunately, there is nothing more that Corona itself can do for you here. You need to work quite a bit on the materials and adjust the light/shadow ratio a bit :) - maybe adding some details can also help.

Here are our suggestions:-

Use detailed vehicle models with good shaders and textures. your vehicles are looking very flat.

Use good asphalt texture. Zebra Crossings white line is thick.

Use some dirt on building edges and corners. which will make the building lively.

Use high resolution HDRI.

And follow others suggestions.

Cheers.
