Title: Flash simulating

My attempt to simulate flash lighting from cam
Very very fast render with such setup.
50 passes by 7 minutes in 1280x720

P.S Maybe postprod. could be better

Yes 100% agree - flashlight shots are always so realistic. I find also shots shot in cloudy / very diffuse weather very realistic whereas shots simulating sun or some other kind of very intense and bright light source to be easily screwed up and look fake. I don't really know why these types of lighting applies so realistic. Maybe its the way we perceive such lighting condition in real whereas our vision adopts other perception of brighter circumstances in reality.

Can I ask you how you achieved the flash effect?

Most probably with a small (flash size) and very strong plane light, just like in real life.

Flashlight + caustics was possible back in alpha days, for sure it can't be worse now :]

really small physical light with high directionality, high intensity?
