I have just started using corona and I noticed using bump maps in a material results a noisy/grainy surface. Is there a special way of achieving bump effect with corona?
-
Maybe your bump value is too strong? Can you show pictures?

show us some pictures :)!

Here it is after 300 passes, 0.02 bump strength.

Umm... To me it looks just like a bump map.

Yes it looks like a bump map, but does it look like wood?
-
Can you try to increase the size of the bump map? It looks fine, but it seems that the bump map is too small.

Micro bump in high amount might convolute into simple noise from certain distance.
Your material seems glossy, in 'varnished polish' type of way, wheres wood that would showcase its structure through specular reflection would have natural finish to it mostly,
and that would be better represented with 'roughness' map, so reflection glossiness in Corona (and you could alternatively also supply bump map, but only in small amount, filtering would take care of it
to only show through in close-up).
How does your material look like ? What is the reference you are trying to recreate ? (or alternatively, were you sucessfull with this material in other renderer and it doesn't work for you here ?)

I modified the map in photoshop and it seems it needed some level adjustments. The reflection glossiness needs some work though, any ways to increase sampling? it looks not so convincing.
I'm trying to get this look:

Does your texture have sufficient resolution and clarity ?
You will have to tweak it to fit your reference, i.e, few deeper cuts that show the wood structure, and micro cuts that just define the surface roughness.
You might try slightly higher filtering than 0.02=0.1.
