Title: Copying Corona lights crash file loading : Corona alpha 7 (7.1) Max 2015
Post by: mike_kennedy on 2014-07-28, 21:15:33
I have 2 files so far where I duplicated Corona lights. With Alpha .7 and .7.1
When I try to load the files now, made with apha 6, the file crashes.

I found out it was duplicated / copied Corona lights, instanced or copied.

I figured it out by merging everything with and without the lights and then bringing in, via merge, the lights one by one.
When the copied lights are merged, Max 2015 Crashes.
Files opened normally, via file open, will crash is a copied light exists.
Merge was my workaround.
Happens pretty much every time I copy a light in a file and save and reload.
Regards
Mike K

does this happen only when loading copied lights from A6/A7, or also when done entirely in A7.1? There was a related bug that was fixed in 7.1

same problem(and i've already made post about this problem here on the forum incuding 3dsmax file) with 3dsmax 2014 and A7.1 and latest builds!
I converted scene from vray to A7.1 and started working with it..After some time 3dsmax crashed and after that when i try to load this scene, 3dsmax is crashing every time.
The same problem with the latest daily builds. Also when i try to merge to a new scene - everything fine, if i merge without lights. But when try to merge with lights - 3dsmax crashes.

SAME here with me !
That ( First Attemp ) i did with alpha 7
After updating to 7.1 , every time i try to open max crashed ( 2014 )
Did the merge thing, first only the geometry, and then light by light...
I figured that only 2 lights made crash when merging.... fortunately after the Save Recovery, I managed to get those 2 light back in the scene too...

but what i found out , it renders differently - somehow - brighter ?

Btw, after managing to recover the scene...
I think there's something wrong with (7.1) and the camera settings ...

no matter what value for SS ( shutter speed ) i set, it always renders the same ..... (camera rollout override - OFF )

Is "use photographic exposure" checked?

So there's your answer :] Check it if you want to adjust exposure with shutter speed, iso and/or F-number.

So, how else should i control exposure, rather than using iso/ss/f-stop ?

Thanks...

If use photographic exposure is unchecked, exposure control is achieved via exposure (EV) spinner in corona settings>exposure and color mapping or vfb>color mapping.

Yes, thanks... I figured that out too. Though I wasn't sure if I am right about my understandings of how CM works in the VFB, but now after your confirmation, everything falls into place.
Thanks again mate !

The Ies Light Bug has happened to me 2 times. In my case its very random, (alredy send the scenes to keymaster) some ies got corrupted and destroy the file...
In my work im always using Ies so it a big thing to me.

this is too old and non-specific for me to do anything about it. If there is some problem in newer builds, please create a new bug report thread for it
