Title: LaFerrari with shadowCatcher
Post by: erick3d on 2014-07-22, 09:03:41
Hi,
been playing  with shadowcatcher (thanks to Rawalanche for his nice video tut).
This render has some little PS touch (curves)

the rear  red glass sounds not correct, if u have any tips to make it better.

thanks.

Erick

Do not use any diffuse for the rear red glass. Set diffuse level completely to 0. Then set reflection and refraction level to 1, keep both IORs at 1.52 and set refraction color to red (not 100% red though).

If tail lights are modeled correctly, i'd go with absorbtion instead of refraction colour.

The glass covers usually have consistent thickness across entire surfaces, so it makes little to no difference. But it's a lot easier to tell newbies "set refraction color to red" than "set absorbtion to red, measure thickness of your glass covers, set that distance as absorbtion, and then fine-tune the look of absorbtion doing several test renders" :)
