Title: Problems getting Forest Pro Color map to work
Post by: LKEdesign on 2014-07-21, 14:31:58
Hi there,

I'm struggeling with getting Forest Color to work! I think I have read somewhere, maybe even in Corona Fora, that Forest Color should be supported by Corona now, - but then again, maybe it was just me dreaming. If anyone has got the color tint in FP Color, raise your hands, and let me know how to do it.

Although it's not described in the release notes, Forest 4.2.0 beta includes full support of Forest Color in Corona Render.
Corona Alpha 6 (not released yet) or one of the latest daily builds is required. Ondra may give you more details.

I see that FP presets now support both Thea and Octane material wise  - do you have any knowledge if Corona will be added to to this list.

ok, that one should be working. Can you post scene? I can compare the settings to my example scene that seems to be working

OK, I have found the problem (I think) - I tried to muck around with the settings in FP color map  - and it turned out that when I used Additive or Average blending mode, then it works fine. I was using the color blending mode as described in the FP reference. Either it doesn't work or the effect is so subtle that it can't be seen. Have you had similar experience?

I admit myself to repeat my other question, as it seem that you didn't see it the first time I asked .....
I see that FP presets now support both Thea and Octane material wise  - do you have any knowledge if Corona will be added to to this list. It's a little overwhelming to sit and convert all the materials by myself

Hello !
i've corona A7 and FP 2.4.x
same problem at first try.. nothing happens...
i fighted and finally got it to work !!

here's the process :
- create a basic corona material
- create a forest color map. check ON "Override", Check ON "Get color from map" (put your texture here as well), Check ON "As texture on surface"

- Now link this Forest color map to the diffuse of your main corona material.
- apply the corona material to your FP object
- HERE IS THE TIP : Apply the corona material to the Original Object !! after doing that i get nice colors on my FP instances, based on the map. cool !!

Little proof attached ;)

note : i used phoenixfdOcean texmap (in vector mode) as displace for water.

Hope it helps !

It´s not working for me too. :(
I am using FP 4.0.2 and corona Converter. The Highlight compress is working, but i am still having a lot of blowed whites on Rocks (as instance). It´s working but all the light and material are strangely exploding (too bright).

You might check the reflection/IOR settings on the converted materials. For me that solved the problem.
Can you post the (converted) materials?

If it isn't the material. Check what materials is attached to the single item in the FP object. Sometimes the old materials is still attached. You can check this by checking if  the "old" material is still present  within the scene materials.

BTW I installed the 4.3.0 Beta. No Bugs found and WITH corona materials. They still need some tweaking but it is a better starting point than the converted materials.

good luck.

With your permission, I follow this same thread with a doubt with the forestcolor.

Does it work properly with Corona 1.5.2?

Regards!

It should work properly with Corona. I think the thing what you miss is to plug in your Corona material which contains the Forestcolor map in the diffuse to your Forestpack object. In the FP object, look for the "Material" option under the Geometry rollout.

i guess i found the problem  - as i sometimes struggle with it too. If you "custom edit" in tree editor and start duplicating a certain object its basically i just an instance .... you need to reseed every of these objects to get forrest-color working.
I struggeld for a day to figure out why forrest color had no effect on my objects - where everything should be set as it should be.

If only CoronaScatter support such feature, that would be dream come true.
