Hi there.
I'm not sure this is the right forum to start this thread, also I don't post it in the help forum because it's not really coronas's related help, if this is not the right place, please move it where it should be.
I'm struggling my head with this, and call me a silly, but I can't figure it out.
I really like the highlight compression feature, but I also like to work with 32 bit exr in post, but I can't figure out how to reproduce the "highlight compression" feature in after effects or Composite.
Does someone knows how to reproduce it?
Cheers!

Take a look here: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,4511.msg31190.html#msg31190

Thanks for moving the thred to it's correct place.
That post does not answer my question, what I meant is how to reproduce the effect of the highlight compression feature in corona but in After Effects with a 32bit EXR.
I save the EXR without any highlight compression, and I want to do it in post :)
Cheers!

well, the formula is in the linked thread, it is exactly the same one that is used for highlight compression in corona. I'm not an AE user so I cannot say how to do it there but I assume there is an effect (or whatever it is called there) which can make use of expressions.

Aaaaah!
Ok, understood, them the n1 is the compression value, right?
Great and thanks!
Cheers.

Hi
In "after effects" go to "utility" and make use of "Highlight Compression"

hi belly.
Thanks for the tip, but it does not does the same, in fact it makes the image to loose a lot of detail :P
Cheers

Here is a better place than in the other post.
I can't figure out how to apply the formula in After Effects, could someone enlight me here please?
Cheers.

Hi Juang3d
I do not make use of the formula. But of the "Highlight Compression" utility. On top you can add some curves, you can enhance the contrast and get details back in.
Make sure you render out with the different CESSENTIAL passes, so you will have more control.
cheers

Belly I'm an idiot, you were totally right, the AE effect works flawlessly, i was using it with. My comp at 8bit instead of 32 bit, as I've said... i'm an idiot XP
Thanks!!
