Title: Cluster scattering
Post by: frv on 2025-06-11, 15:55:58
Does it already work and if so an example or a few hints how to get it started. I don't get any results no matter the settings for a procedural cluster scattering.
Seems to be a great new feature.

Just checked it with the RC1 build and it seems to be working fine. Just load two or more different objects that you want to scatter (can be from Cosmos), create a Scatter, scatter your objects over some surface, enable clusters under surface scattering, and make sure that you are using a correct "size" value. For example, if your scatter-on geometry is 10x10m large, you probably don't want to use 1000m or 0.1cm as the size. A value of 1m would probably work well, making each cluster about 1m large.

Tx for your quick response. Looks to be a great feature.
I tried it with one cube and nothing happened. Will try again with more than one when back at the office.

Very impressive. Exactly what I as hoping for and more. I will use this a lot for vegetation.

Important when using clusters for the first time is keeping all settings at 0 except "size" and seed otherwise you might not see much happening.
Hierarchy of objects under Chaos scatter in the object manager makes a difference and fun to play with.

A request. I wish the frequency setting slider bar would be a little wider or easier to use. Its such a small bar (and no option to set in numbers) and a hassle to use while its super important for clusters.
