Title: Dull sky
Post by: Nautilus9 on 2025-05-24, 21:05:34
I'm not new to rendering but it's been several years since I've done anything so I could use a little help getting back into it. I watched some tutorials on how to get a nice sun/sky day render going and it seemed as simple as adding the sun and then clicking "add CoronaSky environment" and magically you get great lighting with a bright, vivid blue sky. Well not for me. I made a video of opening Max and following those steps from a new file and all I get is a dull sky. Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the link to the steps I took.

Maybe try to point your camera towards the sky a little bit. What you see in the video is mostly below the horizon portion of the Corona sky and the tiny bit above it, which is also the dirtiest, because of the amount of air light has to travel to get to the camera. All the "juicy" part of the sky is not visible by the camera in your video.

Thanks. I tried that but it's still extremely dull.

You can plug Corona sky through colour correct and to the direct visibility override, then colour correct it to your heart's content.

It gets more interesting at high altitudes ;)

But now your clouds are pink :)  Known issue, unless it's been fixed and i've missed the update https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=41911.0

TBH i did some weird shit in colour correction just to demonstrate the fact, but yeah, clouds get pinkish quite readily. Personally i don't mind it, but i can see why some people get upset with that.

Basically, move your sun higher in the sky.
