Hi everyone, I posted something in the chaos Vantage forums about an interesting issue I discovered with reflection maps and live link and they told me to repost here as well:

​Found a very odd bug with live link and corona: (see images)

Simple reflective material with a reflection glossiness map - works perfect, but as soon as I apply a diffuse it loses its reflection map


Diving a bit deeper into this: (and keeping exactly the same dirty/smudgy reflection glossiness map)

Somehow the diffuse slot is hijacking the reflection?

- - - - This only happens when using live link, If I export to vantage from corona (without using live link) all reflections are correct. - - - -

See attached images, I did some tests.


Thanks for any help, really excited to use live link as I love vantage, just confused why this is happening.

I was able to repro this issue and this is now logged in our system to be further reviewed by our devs.

Any news on this bug?  I'm experiencing the same problem at the moment... it's quite annoying :/

Heya, just flagging that this issue is still present.
I’m wondering if it has been forgotton? It’s a bit of a shame, because Vantage is genuinely amazing — the exported scenes work flawlessly, producing near like-for-like renders compared to Corona and Max, with reflections looking spot on.

However, in Live Link, reflections are still broken as per my original description, resulting in flat-looking materials which are nowhere near to Vantage’s true performance. If someone were to try out live link for the first time, it might give the wrong impression. Only want the best for you guys :)

I tried it again using corona 13 today and it's still the same thing. In fact, I rendered out some specular passes this time and you can very clearly see that the diffuse is hijacking the reflection. The 'exported scene' is correct and identical to max and corona.

Diffuse map in combo with roughness map is fixed in the latest build (which should become a live Hotfix today or tomorrow)

"Fixed issue where materials with textures plugged into roughness or IOR slots could be exported incorrectly into Vantage."

Some mapping may still cause this, e.g. if Metalness is mapped. This will be fixed later.

This is fixed in Corona 13 Hotfix 1 - https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=45346.0

As Tom mentioned, diffuse + roughness should be working fine now, but there are some combinations which may not be working correctly yet (e.g. roughness + IOR or roughness + metalness). We are working on fixing this as well.
