Chaos Corona for 3ds Max => [Max] I need help! => Topic started by: lupaz on 2024-11-29, 15:07:32

Please, take a look at the video below. Looks like a bug.
It works with IR only if I switch to edge mode while on IR. But if I stop IR and start again it does not count the edge mode.
Please, let me know if I'm missing something.

Hi,
I was able to reproduce this issue on my end and have logged it in our system to be further reviewed by our devs. Meanwhile, try to use Chaos Scatter if you can.

I believe this is still happening with the update 1 hotfix 1.
-
Yes, unfortunately, this hasn't made it into U1 HF1.
-
Has this been fixed yet? I'm still getting this error on 12 update2
-
Is this fix going to make it into corona 13?
-
We were unable to reproduce this with Corona 12 Update 2 HF1 and Forest Pack 9.2.3. Everything appears to be working fine with IR nad production render.
If you are able to reproduce this using the above versions, please send us a sample scene at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Hi.
This actually looks like an example of it NOT working. If you render (production) that same scene, do you get a perfect circle or same result as IR?
-
It renders exactly the same in IR and production. I am not sure if those "outliers" are expected. I have just contacted iToo about this.

Here is the response from iToo:
Yes, that’s the expected behavior in this case - these items are being randomized by the Transform settings, which can slightly affect the overall shape. To achieve a sharper edge, you may reduce or disable the Transform > Scale parameters.
Just to clarify, the Edge Boundary Checking mode is not intended to 'slice' geometry. Instead, it removes entire elements within a single item if they are positioned outside the distribution area. So, if any part of an item — such as an overhanging face — extends beyond the boundary, it will either be fully included or completely removed, depending on whether its base is inside or outside the distribution area. This method also helps maintain performance, as slicing geometry would require significantly more computational resources.
